Mitt Romney Adds Election Day Campaign Events (Cleveland, Pittsburgh)
ABC News ^ | Monday, November 5, 2012 | Emily Friedman

Mitt Romney has been chanting “one more day” all day today on the stump, but as it turns out, he will campaign for yet another day, Tuesday, Election Day.

A campaign official said today that after Romney votes in his hometown of Belmont, Mass., tomorrow morning he will head to two swing states, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The stops will be in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. It was not immediately clear how many events would be held in each state or what kind of events they will be.

This makes perfect sense in Ohio. I’m an Ohioan, so I can’t speak for Pennsylvania.

Cleveland, Ohio, though, is historic democratic territory. It is historically overwhelmingly democratic.

This last effort to rattle republican cages, gather the committed together, and send them forth to vote and to take others with them makes perfect sense.

ANY additional votes in Cleveland are a plus.

AND it doesn’t disturb or distract any of the strong republican regions in the state.

So, my sense is that this is going right into the lions den and contesting with the lions. I think it’s an excellent strategy in Ohio. It’s not desperation at all.

It is recognition that Ohio is very close, but that’s no news alert.

It shows the election is not in the bag, that is for sure. Of course, we already knew that.

On the other hand, it also suggests the MSM / RAT polls that show either state as being out of reach are wrong as well. Why even bother if that were the case?

Plus, wouldn’t you hate to lose either state by a few thousand votes and wonder “what if”? Mitt is giving it his all and sprinting all the way to the finish line.

Just one more thing to admire about the man.

I was wondering the same thing. If they were “locked up”, then why have events. I think this is highly unusual and has me more than a little worried. Candidates normally go to their home and wait for the results on election day.

Romney was not my first choice. But as this campaign has moved along, he has really grown on me.

I am going to be so proud to cast my vote for this man. He truly loves this country.

I can’t wait until tomorrow.

Whoever said these states were "locked up?" Ohio is a nail biter and PA is a long time Dem state.

To me this shows he's willing to work for every vote. America sees that. He is not taking anything for granted.

Strategically, I think it's a brilliant move.

It’s not desperation - they were just discussing it on Fox. Shepard Smith said it was “unusual” but they were discussing it and said the candidates ALWAYS campaign on election day, but not usually in events. They typically do interviews on TV stations and try to get their face out there, especially local stations. They said this is just Romney’s way of doing it - do events instead of tv interviews - either way the media has to cover it.

Which honestly is smart to me. Riles people up in 2 important states, and Romney gets to avoid the Republican hating “gotcha” media interviewing him and trying to make up some gaffe on election day.

Son and his wife want to go. Son called the GOP headquarters in Pittsburgh and they don’t have a time or place yet.

Pinging the Q&R bunch!

I think you may have hit on the number one reason that Romney is doing it this way. All along this campaign has found ways to circumvent the enemedia. They haven't always done things just exactly the conventional way. I like it.

maybe it is because tye know that there is wide spread voter fraud as usual and they know they have to win by a large margin so the lawsuits and the media can;t call this election early for oabma dn then get the blacks all whacked up and have a riot because they were told evil republicans are supressing their vote due to racism

Course this election would nto even be close if it were not for over a million blacks voting out of racism.

It’s good that Romney shows a good work ethic.

Yep. This probably pisses off "Choom Boy" who has been forced to show up for work for a solid week. To him, I say, "Don't worry, you will soon have lots of time to rest."

maybe because they know it is close and they know they have to win by a big margin due to the media and the left calling it for oabma early as they have done for before.
When the GOP says hang on the media and the left shout racist, look you blacks the republicans are trying to sipress your vote bla bla bla.

Lets face it of the media had done their job and we did ot have millions of racist blacks then this race wouidl be over two years ago.

Millions of blacks voting based on color.
Libya
fast and furious
border patrol agent killed.
green energy pay off scam’
endorsments by all the Generals etc.
Storm Sandy and where are the SPLIT SCREENS OF OABMA OUT THERE WHILST PEOPLE ARE FREEZING WIHT NO POWER, WATER, FOOD , GASOLINE?
The lies about the terrorist attack.
Work place violence at FT Hood when it was terrorism
TEH ECONOMY, how every group is worse off, women losing jobs, families losing homes, blacks with more poverty

ALL IGNORED BY THIS MEDIA

Romney might be a diabolical genius. What are the odds Romney is flying into Cleveland and Pittsburgh to tie up traffic for a few hours in heavily Democratic areas? Being in South Florida we know what it’s like to have interstates shut down for long periods why Obama or Romney move through.

To me, doing a get out the vote in the heart of Democratic Cuyahoga County shows confidencce. If Romney was in real trouble, he would be in Hamilton County.

I agree. It appears Mitt is taking it right to Obama. Obama is campaigning in turf he should be ahead in like sending troops into Philadelphia for example and Wisconsin.

It appears PEW and ABC are hanging their hats on a D+6 turnout model. I can’t see any way this could be the case, all evidence I have experienced has shown me Obama voters not voting this time and a few flips from Obama to Romney. The enthusiasm on the R side I have never seen before, not even 2010. Tomorrow will be our judgement.
