Paul Ryan Draws Biggest Solo Crowd in Liberal Minnesota
Breitbart ^ | 11/5/12 | Tony Lee

Posted on 11/05/2012 4:39:47 AM PST by Evil Slayer

With a new American Future Fund poll showing Mitt Romney with a one-point lead in liberal Minnesota, Paul Ryan went to the state President Barack Obama won by more than 10 percentage points in 2008 and drew a crowd of nearly 9,000 people on Sunday.

A source who was at the event told Breitbart News Minnesota GOP Chair Pat Shortridge announced 9,000 people were in attendance, and Ryan said another 1,000 people had to be turned away because the venue was filled to capacity.

Ryan's campaign appearance in Minnesota represents how the Romney campaign is aggressively playing offense on Obama's electoral turf to expand the electoral map. Obama has spent the last weeks of the campaign on defense, trying to hold onto states -- like Minnesota and Wisconsin -- he comfortably won in 2008 and were once included in the campaign's baseline of states guaranteed to go into Obama's electoral column, According to NBC News, it was Ryan's largest solo event to date. “We could use your help, Minnesota. How about it? What do you say?” Ryan said. “Look at this: Vikings for Romney-Ryan. Even Vikings fans and Packers fans can lie down together for this country.”

Ryan also said as he traveled around the country people have often thought he was from Minnesota.

"People say ‘Oh yeah, Ryan, you're that budget guy from Minnesota, right?’," Ryan said. "I say, ‘No I’m from Wisconsin, close. We’re the Catholic deer hunters; they are the Lutheran deer hunters.'"

Minnesota also has a gay marriage initiative on the ballot on Tuesday, and this may bring out enough Evangelical voters to tip the state in Romney and Ryan's favor in a close contest.

That's funny.

Ryan is a genuinely nice guy, as is Romney. We need these men in the WH to restore dignity and just plain likeability.

If all goes as planned, America is going to have a LOT to thank Wisconsin for come Wednesday. We helped with the smash-up 2010 election that threw out a lot of Dem bums! We loaned Reince Priebus to the RNC to (FINALLY!) get their act together. We elected Governor Scott Walker not ONCE, but twice! We neutered the unions in Wisconsin; told them to sit down and STFU! We gave you Rep. Ron Johnson. We’re loaning you future VP Paul Ryan. :)

Hell, we’ll even throw in Tommy Thompson for FREE, LOL!

God Bless America. Keep the faith, Gang. We are gonna be kickin’ some Liberal @ss tomorrow!

I bet Ryan had them leave that door open so little kids and old people freeze to death because he would not allow them to leave!

LOL

Late ping. Having a hard time geting on-line these days, so I’m missing a few pings. Please forgive.

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.

PS: I changed my parameters for FR per Jim Robinson’s suggestions — see top of FR Forum page in red — and it seems to be working better. Basically, I deleted everything except Wisconsin fro my side bar and asked for only 20 articles to load, instead of 50.

Yeah; did you see that whole bank of side-by-side refrigerator/freezers, and the campaign workers stuffing little kids into them? And kittens. They were right next to the bank of porta-potties. Quite disturbing. ;)

I've lived here for more than 25 years, and I have a friend from where I lived before who still thinks I moved to Minneapolis, and she's been here to visit! I even have a cousin in CA who thinks Milwaukee is in MN.

There are plenty of Lutheran deer hunters in Wisconsin as well. I know...I was one of them.

Much appreciation from this Minnesotan to the State of Wisconsin. Your state has accomplished things that we, in Minnesota, can only dream of at this point. But, as you will notice by the latest Minnesota poll numbers, we are beginning to make our voices heard!

I am reading O'Reilly's Killing Kennedy and the section about Johnson's Vice-Presidency reminded me of the difficulties in fulfilling a VP role. VP's are chosen because they are superstars in some capacity (or state) but then their political careers start a downward slide due to four ambiguous and stifling years spent as a figurehead.

I pray that things are different for Ryan. I wish Romney would have clarified Ryan's role in his administration.

We need Ryan to stay politically active.

I would just like to share this PRICELESS video with all the Freepers. It’s of the talking heads at MSNBC when they realize that the Wisconsin Recall was NOT too close to call. When you watch this, you can’t help but see parallels with what is going on today. And THEN when Walker has won, they sight the SAME over-sampled Dim polls that showed it tie and cherry pick results from THAT poll that are favorable for Zero! PRICELESS!

Hopefully some of that Wisconsin mojo can rub off on Illinois, but I doubt it. Lol

Depends upon what the Veep does. I don't think anybody considered Dick Cheney a figurehead. I looked at him as a real asset to the Bush administration while peaceniks considered him the Devil himself.

I’m thinking Minnesota will come up short for us, but it was good strategy to force Obama to direct campaign resources there.

I feel cautiously optimistic...

Romney is on the OFFENSE in Traditional Dem states like Minnesota, PA, Michigan, etc.

Obama is playing defense in states like Iowa, Colorado, Pa, etc...

This looks to me just like 2008, in reverse. Remember how McCain had to go to Indiana, the day before the election?

If this is a big Romney win, the media has some SERIOUS explaining to do, about the obvious bias.

Dick Cheney was seasoned and basically retired and has not shown an inclination for politics since then.
