Abortion issue galvanizes voters in battleground Ohio
LA Times ^ | 11/4/12 | Alana Semuels

Mary Wright has been a devout Catholic and a Democrat her whole life, both erecting Obama signs in her yard and giving out communion in her parish. It never felt like a conflict to her, until this year.

That's because she recently received a letter from a fellow parishioner targeting her for her support of President Obama.

"I don't really know you," it said, "but I wonder how you can support a president who has attacked our church, and supports abortion on demand for all nine months of pregnancy."

As Wright has discovered, it's nearly impossible to spend time in Ohio this election year without noticing a surge of activity from Mitt Romney supporters and canvassers who say that values and abortion issues are paramount. Signs near highways encourage voters to stand up for religious freedom, newspaper ads slam Obama on abortion, and cars parked in the vicinity of Republican rallies are plastered with antiabortion literature.

Voters seem especially enraged about Obama's past positions on abortion and about a part of the Obama healthcare law that required Catholic-affiliated employers to pay for contraception coverage. Antiabortion groups say they're as active as they've been in recent memory.

"In 2008, there was a little bit of fatigue — coming off a pro-life president, people didn't realize what could happen if you didn't have someone who believes what we believe in from a life perspective," said Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life. "But after four years of new Obamacare and [Department of Health and Human Services contraception] mandates, it's just galvanized people of all different faiths. It truly is the greatest grass-roots movement we've ever seen."

“. . . devout Catholic and Democrat her whole life . . . “

Sorry. Not possible. Voting RAT is voting for infanticide. Her devotion is to her own concept of what is and is not orthodox and Godly. In short, she’s nuts. Of course, seeing that her parish allows her the duties it does, it goes without saying that her parish is screwed up, too.

I’ll grant that Jesus isn’t a Republican or a Democrat but I’ll also point out that the Bible condemns about 95% or the RAT platform.

Her parish refuses to condone Barry the Baby Killer. So she is leaving it, hoping to find a another parish which does not believe Catholic doctrine. What does she think makes a Catholic parish: nice costumes in mass and sweet-smelling incense?

Well he certainly wasn't a democrat, he was after all, a Christian.

Anyone who thinks a person can be a devout Catholic AND a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual Democrat better check their salvation.

The democrat party was not always for abortion. And, some people need time to change. A lot of people are democrats because they remember JFK was a Catholic, and it was a Catholic thing to be a democrat. Over the decades, many have left the party, but it is like abandoning a family member to many. Let’s be glad more are seeing the light, anyway!

There was a liberal on FB claiming that Jesus can’t be a Republican because he preached an egalitarian society.

“Wright, who said she opposes abortion but doesn’t think it is her place to make such personal decisions for other people, said she was quitting her parish and finding one more accepting.

“All they talk about is abortion,” she said about her church. “I feel like as a Catholic for Obama, I have been totally discriminated against.””

No Mary we true Christians refuse to accommodate a reprobate like yourself. St. Paul commanded the early Church (I Corinth 5:6-13) to drive people like yourself out of it. It is good to see that your church venerates the truth and is courageous enough to defend it.

1 Corinthians 5:6-13

6 Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch, as you really are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. 8Therefore, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral persons— 10not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since you would then need to go out of the world. 11But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother or sister* who is sexually immoral or greedy, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber. Do not even eat with such a one. 12For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge? 13God will judge those outside. ‘Drive out the wicked person from among you.’

I'm glad she finally woke up, but seriously: What the heck?

Did she support Disgraced, impeached, traitor, rapist, pervert, pro-abortion Xlinton? Twice?

What the heck did she think 0bama was four years ago? The Easter Bunny?

Gore? Kerry??? The Confessional, Ms. Wright.

Visit it.

So she wants to find a “church” that agrees with her on everything and will accommodate her sins instead of condemning them in order to save her soul

“....devout Catholic”, my foot. Any REAL Catholic would not have voted for the most extreme pro-abortion president in history. And as a statele legislator, the ghoulish Obama actually supported killing the wounded survivors of botched aboerions as a lay on the operating table. A vile, murderous, baby killer.

Mary Wright has been a devout Catholic and a Democrat her whole life...belongs to the party which had to vote three times to return "God" to their platform - and even then it was clear the voice vote was not a majority in favor of the move - life in general must be a terribly chaotic and confusing experience for people such as this.....
