SOROS THINK TANK RECOMMENDS BIG CUTS TO MILITARY BENEFITS
Godlike Productions ^ | 4 Nov 12 | Rick Maze

A new report by a liberal-leaning think tank recommends a dramatic overhaul of military pay, retirement and health care benefits as part of a $1 trillion cut in defense spending over 10 years.

The Center for American Progress calls for capping pay raises, eliminating military health benefits for many retirees who are covered by an employer-provided plan, and reducing the value of military retired pay as well as making retirees wait until age 60 to start receiving it.

Recommendations are included in a report, Rebalancing Our National Security, released Oct. 31 by the progressive think tank and advocacy group. The report opposes across-the-board cuts in defense spending that could occur beginning in January under sequestration but still calls for major reductions in defense spending.

Capping pay raises, the report says, could save $16.5 billion over the next five years. Reducing retiree health care benefits, through a combination of restricting care and raising fees, could save $15 billion a year. Reforming military retired pay could save, in the short term, up to $13 billion a year, and over time could save up to $70 billion a year off the current plan.

Is this so those funds can then be redirected to the new FEMA Corp of young volunteers ages 18 to 24? You remember, 0bama’s civilian corps that should be as well trained and paid etc as our military?

I can see Romney, “reaching across the aisle,” to the GOP and a minority of the Dims and passing something like this. It will be one of those things only a GOP president could “accomplish.”

0bama is evil right down the ground. I worry that if he is successful in getting a second term, this will be the last election this nation has unless and until the American people wake up to what they have done.

It is said 0bama is a failed president. He is in the true American sense of the word. But he lived up to his pledge to transform America...he has pitted those with some wealth against those with less, he has pitted the races against one another, he has pitted men against women and he has stepped all over the Christian religion while praising the Islam followers...This may have had a woman born in America as a mother and grandparents from this sod and even relatives ( who many disavow knowledge of ) but he does not have a drop of what makes an American in his blood...he hates this nation with a red hot hatred and is bound to see her brought down with our without the help or people like Soros.
As to people who vote for him....well think about the 40 some years of indoctrination that has taken place since the late 1960s at least.. Is it any wonder the younger voters of today vote for this devil?

Well said...how many times have the civil servant side had pay raises and the military not a cent and when they do, it is less than the civilians receive. How often have military had their pay frozen..promotions held up..mine was...such that we lose time in grade etc...
Maybe the only ones who should be in Congress and be eligible to hold the office of Pres and VP are vets!

It is our lot in life. When we raise our hands to take the oath, we pledge our lives, our liberty, and our sacred honor to our country - something that politicians never do.

All that we ask is to be treated fairly by our political masters. This they refuse to do, and we should not allow ourselves to be used as television props to support their latest crazy political scheme.

When the Romans abused their Legions, the Legions lined up behind ambitious Generals and marched on Rome. The Empire fell. We should not do the same, but rather turn to the people and insist that they side with country, not with their own partisan interests.

Rarely, COLAs are the same for all Federal employees, civilian and military.

Ted Turner [Think Tank of one]: I Think It's Good US Troops Are Committing Suicide

[We do indeed] now have two Americas. . . . "A house divided against itself cannot stand." . . . [we cannot continue] half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but [it]. . . will become all one thing, or all the other.

If I were to ever happen to run into this pathetic P.O.S. I would spit in his face.

Then break his fat nose just for good measure.

SkyPilot,

Aside from the emotions your pictures bring out....

How does these proposed cuts:

A. Help rentention?
B. Ensure a quality force?
C. Enhance national security?

I think it’s laughable that the Left think you can just cut open the goose and take its eggs out.

Our military is the World’s best for a reason. Cut it and it’s no longer the best.

At some point, you cut it enough, and you lose the next war.

What happens to the national debt then?

Sad part is that we will have a lot of “Fiscal Conservatives” siding with Soros to take away benefits from our military and our military vets.

As a military vet, and, in a family with many military vets (retired, disabled war vets), I do not want to see benefits taken from military. Unlike welfare recipients....military service members EARNED their benefits. Military people make lots of sacrifices (including not being able to make more income in the private sector)...and should not have benefits reduced

But, like with some of the other things “Fiscal Conservatives” agree on with Soros (Free trade, Globalism, income taxes over tariffs/sales taxes)...you can bet they will go after the military.

Would love to see Soros swing just like the Nuremburg guilty. In the same fashion, no trapdoor but hauled off the floor to die slowly & twist at the end of his noose.

I hear Soros’ son is a proud chip off the old brick. He & his movements should be watched closely by freedom lovers.

Then break his fat nose just for good measure.

Better yet how about this passage out of Mickey Spillane's "The Big Kill."
Private detective Mike Hammer slugs a little punk with "pig eyes."

"I snapped the side of the rod across his jaw and laid the flesh open to
the bone. I pounded his teeth back into his mouth with the end of the
barrel ... and I took my own damn time about kicking him in the face.
He smashed into the door and lay there bubbling. So I kicked him
again and he stopped bubbling."

I’m no Soros fan, but am a military vet with two post-911 deployments.

When it comes to combat vets, I would agree with your points entirely. IMO, pencil pushers who do their 20 typing on a computer should probably have their benefits cut. Anybody who’s been in the service knows there’s some pretty cush jobs where it’s in late out early and lots of free time and never getting dirty. Why should someone do 20 doing power point presentations and then go work in the private sector AND collect a pension AND health bennies at age 39? It doesn’t make much sense.

The best military in the world doesn’t need to be the most bloated military in the world.
