Increased to $2.05/gal?
Cry me a freaking river.
Somebody has to pay for all the money Germany has been giving Greece.
It looks like the German citizens are paying the price.
My understanding is that dairy products are heavily subsidized in Europe. That someone figured out importing subsidized European dairy products rather than producing their own is not surprising.
When we lived in Germany, we purchased a LOT of our groceries at LIDL, ALDI, REAL, etc. Milk was about 55 Euro cents, so about 90 cents for a liter. Much fresher taste, and I loved the packaging. Small spout, lasted longer. Butter was always more expensive than the Commissary, but fresh veggies were BY FAR better tasting and better priced. Canned veggies were very cheap and a lot less preservatives. Many canned in jars, as well. Many of these had bakeries next door, or even on site inside the grocery, so you could purchase fresh from the oven breads! Yuummm! I still miss that! I’ve heard that prices have gone up, but so were prices in the Commissary, as well. Prices are going up everywhere.
