Romney using teleprompters more as campaign nears its end (President Romney bashing has begun)
Washington Post ^ | November 4, 2012 | Philip Rucker

DES MOINES — Warming up the crowd at Mitt Romney’s morning rally here Sunday morning, Iowa congressional candidate John Archer strode on stage and took what in Republican circles has become a tried-and-true dig at President Obama.

“Wow,” he said, “I don’t need these teleprompters!”

What Archer may not have realized is that the twin teleprompters erected at both sides of the podium had been set up for his own party’s nominee. Like the president, Romney has been relying more and more on teleprompters in recent days as he swoops in and out of the battleground states delivering a scripted closing argument.

Romney’s heavy use of teleprompters symbolizes the evolution of his stump speech. Throughout this campaign, Romney usually spoke extemporaneously and with only a few written notes. For formal policy addresses, he read his prepared remarks from teleprompters. But for his standard rallies, he stitched together his speeches, seemingly off the cuff, from an assortment of well-practiced and familiar riffs. He regularly took jabs at Obama’s eloquence, often noting to loud applause that sterling rhetoric does not make a sterling record.

The MSM is desperate - they’re reduced to petty attacks on Romney.

Isn’t it supposed to be a close election? Not from the anxiety betrayed by the Washington Compost.

Someone go back and find Philip Rucker's piece on Obama's use of teleprompters back in 2009.... Hey wait! There was no Philip Rucker piece on Obama's use of teleprompters back in 2009,2010,2011,... Never mind.

In four years the MSM never noticed how POTUS is inseparable from TOTUS. Now, Mitt’s not even president yet, and they’re right on top of it! Do they really think the citizenry does not notice their bias?

Looking at the pictures the teleprompters look like they are way too low for Mitt to read. They probably weren't meant for him.

Wow, first time WaPo has used the word “teleprompter” in the last four years.

When Romney starts using them to address a 6th grade class I’ll start to worry.

And by the end of January, after Mitt takes office, there will have been many above-the-fold/top-of-the-hour “news” reports of the numerous homeless people, the struggling middle class, and inflation!

I think Romney should do a Pete Townsend-style teleprompter smashing at the beginning of his inaugural address...just walk over and smash the things to pieces, then go back and do his speech like nothing happened.

I guess the WaPo doesn’t have anything more damaging to hit Romney on.

Interesting, I noticed Friday night at the OH rally that Romney was referring to printed notes on the podium and not using the telepromter. I thought that was notable, since he was basically giving his new closing argument speech. This is the difference between Romney and Obama. You can tell Romney is thoughtful and prepares. Obama just goes out and reads his speeches.

With a Romney win we get back the homeless; aids sufferers triple in number in 2 months; the military suicides that were not in the news between 2009 and 2012 reappear. The gap between rich and poor that widened between 2009 and 2012 comes back. Gas prices that went up under 0bama are suddenly in the news.

What will the headlines be the next day?
Romney sneaks in by a hair.
Angry White males have a temper tantrum.
Romney chosen: women and minorities to suffer most.
