NBC’s Savannah Guthrie: Sandy ‘handed’ to Obama ‘seemingly from above’ (never let a crisis go to ...

There seems to be a consensus that last week’s storm, which devastated the northeastern United States, will have an impact on the upcoming presidential election. However, was it a gift for incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama?

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC, “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie indicated that. Guthrie explained that when the contest is this tight anything can sway the race one way or another.

“[The election] could change on a dime if people start feeling that the federal response isn’t what it should be,” Guthrie said. “But when you have a race this tight, things like a hurricane — this can move the needle when you’re talking about a race that’s so close.”

But she went on to add that strategically, it will benefit Obama since his campaign was geared to turn out his base and now he has an opening to win over so-called “middle-of-the-road voters.”

“And I think it was an important moment for the president because in the last three or four weeks of the campaign, I don’t think he was going out of his way to appeal to independents whatsoever,” Guthrie continued.

“This is a campaign built to turn out the base of the party. And here was a moment, handed to him seemingly from above, where he could look like that strong, independent, steady in a storm, very appealing to the middle-of-the-road voters. And I might add to unmarried women voters who are going to be very key in this election.”

Sandy needs to get with the times and stop believing the MSM bullshit. She’s gonna be one drunk-ass “walk of shame ho’s” scurrying home after a night of drunken loser disenlightenment.....

She’s right though. Sandy completely stopped Mitt’s momentum. What looked like a race moving in Romney’s direction a week ago is just tied now. Instead of talking about Obama’s record, the news is all about Sandy. It gave Hussein the chance to “feel our pain” and look presidential. People also tend to want to “come to together” in times of tragedy and that made it harder for Romney to criticize Obama as much as he probably would have liked to in the closing days.

In this case an act of God helped the bad guys - possibly quite significantly. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

So you're saying that had Sandy not happened that the 20,000 or 30,000 attending Romney rallies would instead be 40,000 or 60,000?

God could not have helped Bronco without a compliant media willing to grasp at any straw. Besides, I still think God has the final say. Have faith.

No...it did not.

It exposed Obama for the incompetent fraudulent grandstander that he is.

It illustrated in fact just how competent Bush’s response to Katrina was in camparison to Obama’s total failure.

From what I can see it increased Mitt’s momentum and opened the eyes of a great number of people who are suffering in the north east.

Lemmee get this straight, Obama is slipping in the national polls, until a storm hits the East coast. The president flies to the East coast, shakes a few hands and gives away water, food and gas to people who were gonna vote for him anyway and all of a sudden, we can forget about 4 years of declining employment, 4 years of socialist government by fiat, an Ambassador slain on foreign soil while the administration preens before potential voters, etc., etc.

NO. I watched all of the Meet The Press, Face the Nation Democratic Spin Doctors. And YES. This is what they say too.

But I don’t formulate my opinions based upon what the media decides I need to formulate my opinions on.

A storm on the East coast has changed NOTHING...

Yeah, isn't it just awesome that 109 people lost their lives, and millions more suffered, so that our precious Obama could get a photo op?! What would be really cool is if there was another tragedy and hundreds of thousands perished so Obama could have a moment to really look presidential! Yes We Can!...

Perhaps, for about a day...two days at most. Then, after the photo-op was over, the 0's admin, union thugs, and other liberal politicians got to show their true colors when it comes to getting things done--which is: they usually don't get things done, because the red-tape, bureaucracy and unions they put in place won't let them. It seems it was even hard for MSNBC, of all people, to not bring public strife and outcry into light (although I'm sure they try).

Personally, I think God's lesson in all this: "Don't be dependent on the Government. Be dependent on yourself; and when in need, the goodwill of your family, friends, and neighbors."

There's something to be said about personal freedom and responsibility.

The people most feeling the pain in the aftermath of sandy won't be watching the Sunday shows an listening to the talking heads. The last they heard was Obama was going to be standing beside them and getting them all they needed. They are still waiting.

She is apparently oblivious to the anger that is building in NY and NJ at the government that is supposed to be helping them. And yes, that includes Obama. I call this an epic failure. G-d does work in mysterious ways and His understanding of human nature is vastly greater than Guthrie’s.

You realize that people on both sides think Sandy probably helped Obama. The only question is how much. What was a disaster for people in the northeast was a boon for Hussein. You can dispute that all you'd like, but the national polls were moving to Romney (he was even up 2-4 in Rasmussen) and now they are back to tied. It's not that the hurricane was decisive, but in a super close election is just gave Obama a chance to be presidential and sway some last minute undecideds. Ofcourse people like us here on FR weren't fooled, but we are not undecideds either.

So the “above” sacrificed the lives of more than 100 innocent souls to allow Obama to get more political support for an election?

The people are true sociopaths.

Isn’t it funny that when a disaster strikes - the left blames God? He is dead to them otherwise. Heck, they wanted to take Him out of their party platform. I’m not convinced that these disasters are an act of God Almighty - the Heavenly Father, but the god of this world - Satan. He is the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. I’m tired of our Heavenly Father getting the blame for these things.
