Fluke: Standing up for women's rights
Ventura County Star (CA) ^ | November 3, 2012 | by Sandra Fluke

Posted on 11/04/2012 5:35:33 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

This year, women in Ventura County and across the country face a critical election.

In Congress, women's health rights are under siege from a radical agenda that wants to take away preventive health programs such as breast cancer screenings, restrict access to contraception and end a woman's right to choose.

The health of our sisters and daughters may very well depend on the choices we voters make at the ballot box this Election Day, and nowhere is the right choice more clear than here in Ventura County.

My choice for Congress is Julia Brownley. I'm standing with Julia because she'll work with President Obama to keep us moving forward, building upon the advancements we've made for women's rights and women's health, and because she'll stand up to attempts to take away the progress of recent years.

Now we all know that Planned Parenthood does not do mammograms yet the left keeps repeating that lie.
The whole function is to murder the unborn at the taxpayers expense. No one is even remotely trying to prevent them
from getting birth control.
I just object to paying for it.
Why should I pay for someone else's sex life????

Why should I pay for murder by Planned Parenthood?
If Fluke wants to have sex then let her and her boyfriend pay for it.

If Fluke want to murder the unborn let them do it alone.

Don't make me a party to it.

Fluke is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Nazi eugenics crowd.

Just to be accurate, PP does do breast screenings. It does not do mammograms.

I’m picturing Fluke and Julia just standing there...alone...with no one else around.

An empty chair beside her...

For the last time, I’m not paying for your birth control pills Sandra. I hope this newspaper gig pays so you can finally support yourself.

Let's get down to brass tacks. This isn't about condoms, they pass them out all over. The pill is 9 bucks a month at Wally World, and abstinence is free.

What they want is money for the abortion mills.

I read the Constitution, and I just can't find it. Can anyone show me where it says that anyone has a "Right" to any medical procedure, performed at everyone elses' expense?

A mammogram?

An abortion?

How about hip replacement?

Knee surgery

Maybe a boob job?

What Bull.

One might have the "right" to obtain those, including (as currently interpreted) the right to murder their progeny in the warm comfort of their mother's womb, but there is nothing there that says anyone else has to pick up the tab.

Sandra Fluke is an expert at living at the expense of others. It does not in any way “advance” the rights of women when one of the policy effects of what Fluke advocates is that government must coerce some perfect stranger to pay for it. Further and more to the point, there is about a 50% chance that stranger will be some other woman!

What Fluke advocates, that government either directly pay for her contraceptives, or that government change insurance company regulations so they must do the same, is not advancing women, it is advancing the power of government to take more, regulate more and control more. What she doesn’t realize is that once payment for contraception falls into the circle of government power, she is also giving government the power to decide what contraceptives it will pay for and under what circumstances.

Clearly Fluke expects those decisions will all be ones she favors, but the instant they are not, she will be clueless, slackjawed and outraged. Elites always expect they will part of the circle of those who get to influence the decisions of government. Of course, the bureaucracy of Leviathan government has a mind of its own, that is once elites give it power over some new aspect of our lives.

The more government expands, the more personal liberty must retreat. Lenin would call Fluke a useful idiot.

What is apparently unknown to liberals is that there is another side to every story besides theirs, and that this is a world of trade-offs, not just their (im)moral absolutes.

Their beloved “right to choose” does not exist in a vacuum. The other half of the equation, conveniently ignored, is the right to life of the baby that the woman is choosing to abort.

And Fluke's cherished right to free contraception also involves a trade-off. She wants to avoid paying a few bucks a month for condoms or The Pill, or, if she screws up (pun intended) the abortifacient "Morning After" pill. What would Georgetown University have to give up to provide her with these “necessities?” Nothing more than its Constitutional Right of Freedom of Religion, a right so fundamental to the tenets of our country that it is first among the Bill of Rights. (Where, in the Constitution is the liberals’ favorite right—the right to abortion? My copy must have inadvertently omitted it.)

So, basically, Fluke wants Georgetown to give up a primary Constitutional right, and ignore centuries of Catholic beliefs just so women with questionable morals can have sex whenever they want without having to pay a penny for whatever supplies they need to further their debauchery. Some trade-off! Particularly when we remember that when she was admitted to Georgetown, the university's health care plan was readily available. If Fluke hated it so much, why didn't she apply to Wellesley or Berkeley or some other non-Jesuit school whose liberal beliefs more closely mirrored her own?

I get your point, but “men still get away without parenting or supporting their children frequently” brings up another. It seems like “Child Support Enforcement” is a difficult task when fully 40% of children are born out of wedlock. With 20% real unemployment, what percentage of the fathers actually have jobs? The way the deck is stacked now in favor of part time jobs and affirmative action for women in full-time jobs, men can barely support themselves, let alone their children. With the state as father, there is no reason for families to form.

Strange, in the real world she would be called a self serving lying..... slut.

(I wonder when MSNBC is going to replace their primetime anchor with our Ms. Fluke)

But here she is a not so young parasite who had 15 minutes of fame got on TV to proclaim that she is a.... slut, and demands that we pay for her, and every other libido driven ugly b!tch carbon unit, who on a good day will only draw the emasculated candy a$$ liberal carbon unit of their species with the testosterone level of fly.

Who btw are driven by delusions of adequacy, but who, in actuality have only dated ugly liberal carbon unit of an alternate species or their right hand....

Jury is still out if a homeless guy would lower themselves to hit that, this of course does not apply to the noble "sterno bum"

Just sayin

“The health of our .... daughters”

Dear Sandra is over 30; her chances of birthing a daughter are getting slimmer by the day. I know she is speaking metaphorically, as she did in her faux argument before "congress," but, despite her heralded jaunt with her beard boy friend, there seems scant evidence that she prefers guys over gals.

She’s standing up for free contraception. This is the kind of crisis our broke government is supposed to provide for.

Yep, the Dems sure are concerned about women.

That's why at the convention they had a serial sexual abuser speak (Bill) shortly after the fluke.
