Our choice for America’s future: The Daily News endorses Mitt Romney for president
The New York Daily News ^ | 11/3/2012 | New York Daily News

America’s heart, soul, brains and muscle — the middle- and working-class people who make this nation great — have been beset for too long by sapping economic decline.

So, too, New York breadwinners and families.

~snip~

Revival of the U.S. as a land of opportunity and upward mobility is the central challenge facing the next President. The question for Americans: Who is more likely to accomplish the mission — Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?

Four years ago, the Daily News endorsed Obama, seeing a historic figure whose intelligence, political skills and empathy with common folk positioned him to build on the small practical experience he would bring to the world’s toughest job. We valued Obama’s pledge to govern with bold pragmatism and bipartisanship.

The hopes of those days went unfulfilled.

I was shocked by Newsday, but this is less surprising. Mort Zuckman has been very critical of 0 the past few weeks. Still, I’m happy about it.

Just heard on Fox and FRiends that an unpresidented 500 admirals and general officers are going to come out endorsing Romney.

The NY Post long, long ago used to be a left-wing paper. Some decades ago it was rescued from oblivion and revived as a moderate to conservative paper.

The Daily News had a reverse history, moving steadily to the left in recent years. It is astounding that they would come clean, and endorse Romney, especially with a cover like this. I can scarcely believe this, and will be off to a newsstand to make sure that this is not a hoax or a joke. Of course, it if true, it is a good thing, although the electoral votes of the states the paper serves are probably beyond reach for Romney.

The Wall Street Journal, I believe, has a policy of not making endorsements. I approve of this: I think that in the modern age it is silly for people to be swayed by what some newspaper says.

However, it is pretty clear that many (or most) of the Wall Street Journal editorial-page writers would be backing the Republican, for good and sufficient reasons.

BTW- I am giving 296 Electoral Votes to Mitt Romney in my best guess.

Here's hoping you are a pessimist...

Fabulous! I am quite surprised that the Friends have not announced this endorsement along with the Newsday shocker.

-——I’m unsure how influential newspaper endorsements are today.-———

The endorsements taken singly may not be important, even to readers. The fact there is consensus, piling on if you will, is news. The masses who don’t read the papers may feel the consensus as it permeates the news over the next two days.

Daily News and Newsday?

This is the broken clock episode for liberal newspapers. The editors must have choked.

You lucky gal. We are one of the states that get no attention this year.

I hope you saw the excellent interview that Hannity had with Eastwood this week.

After that, I know his performance was done the way it was “on purpose” at the convention. He was as quick and sharp as always in the Hannity interview.

New York Dally News, New York Post, and New York/Long Island Newsday endorse Romney. The New York Times cheese stands alone endorses Obama.

Whether or not the endorsements have influence is not important. What is significant is that they are more a barometer of sentiment. If Obama has disappointed the liberal editors of newsrags, then he has disappointed a lot of democrats/liberals in general. Many of those people will either vote Romney or stay home. Obama is done.

Romney has done his part better than I think any of us imagined.

GOTV or it's four more of Obama-Biden malaise.

Vote & drag 'right thinking' people to the polls with you.
