Au Revoir, Mr. President
American Spectator ^ | 11.1.12 | R. EMMETT TYRRELL, JR.

We shall be getting a new government next week.

Reviewing the last few months of this tumultuous presidential campaign, I...

--snip--

In debate this time around, Mitt Romney hammered Barack Obama mercilessly. Under the ongoing assault Obama's knees buckled and he repeatedly looked glassy-eyed. If the contest were a prizefight, the referee should have stepped in. Actually, I felt sorry for Obama. My tax-bracket notwithstanding, I did not want to see Mitt hit him again, but he did: the economy! the national debt! joblessness!

--snip--

A few months back I published my findings in The Death of Liberalism. In that book I noted that in the conservative deluge of 2010 independents combined with conservatives to turn the Liberals out. The independents do not always share the conservatives' social values, but they are very ardent for prudent economic policies. The growing debt and unbalanced budgets (both state and federal) had roused the independent vote. I said they would vote with the conservatives for years to come, because Obama and his cohorts in Congress were going to pile up trillion dollar deficits for years to come. Along with the conservatives and independents, next week will come the "uncommitted" voter. The uncommitted always goes with the challenger.

There are two numbers that have been relatively underemphasized in this election, 18 percent and 24 percent. Eighteen percent is the standard cut the federal government takes of GDP. Twenty-four percent is the cut that Obama's government is taking. He says that to pay for this engorgement of the federal government all we need to do is raise taxes on the rich. The conservatives and independents recognize that there is not enough money earned by the top percentage of taxpayers to pay for it and probably not enough down below. Pithily put, we cannot afford Liberalism...

The Tea Party strategy stressing economic issues worked in 2010 because it made sense to make common cause with like minded indies. Most people don't appreciate how many indies there are, e.g. in Iowa they outnumber both the GOP and the rats, in MA they were over half of the registered voters when Scott Brown won, etc. Hurricane Obama has been an economic wrecking ball.

Obama and the rats pushed liberal social issues because they're desperate!

We get a new government in January, if at all. Meanwhile, great damage could be accomplished.

I am wondering what the angry Bamma staff members are going to do to the White House equipment like they did when W was elected. Me thinks that they are going to be even angrier since they lost their potential of having 4 more years. Perhaps it will be a rerun with them removing the letters (Rs this time) from the keyboards and infecting the computers with porn and viruses, like they did when the Bush staff took over.

I don't think this will be a big problem. I believe Obama is already focusing on ways to make the big bucks being a public nuisance and rabble-rouser after he leaves office.

Obama is nothing if not a hedonist ... he's just focused on the next party.

I think most Americans feel the same way about liberals shoving their cultural gutter on America as conservatives do. A lot of social conservatives are independents. Obamacare’s economic and social aspects is what launched Americans out to the call of the Tea Party.

Obama and his mob of perverts and radicals have disgusted most Americans economically and socially. The pro-Islam/Muslim Brotherhood agenda is not popular, either. Liberal racism and homofascism is not a winning ideology.

Romney has to be careful not to go liberal socially and put America first in trade and foreign policy. He has to avoid Washington pushing him overboard on “homeland security” and it would be amazing if he’d stop molesting Americans at the airports and ditch TSA. We need jobs here and a policy to make that happen.

He needs to pull back on Washington’s unending thirst for power over the constitutional rights of Americans. He needs to pull back on the KGBish spy networks that are focused on Americans and those dying to control the internet or, worse, turning it over to the UN!

Romney has not mentioned a word about pulling the police state back. I hope he does it.

After he flushes Obamacare, I'd like to see Romney terminate the Department of Education, and end both the insane War on Drugs and the insane War on Airplane Passengers.

I can dream, can't I?
