Breaking: NAACP Takes Over Houston Polling Station, Advocates for President Obama

HOUSTON, TX - Friday afternoon at an early polling place located at 6719 W. Montgomery Road in Houston, NAACP members were seen advocating for President Barack Obama according to volunteer poll watchers on location at the time.

According to Eve Rockford, a poll watcher trained by voter integrity group True the Vote, three NAACP members showed up to the 139 precinct location with 50 cases of bottled water and began handing bottles out to people standing in line. While wearing NAACP labeled clothing, members were "stirring the crowd" and talking to voters about flying to Ohio to promote President Barack Obama.

After watching what was occurring, Rockford approached Polling Supervisor Rose Cochran about what she was seeing.

"I went to the polling supervisor and let her know that it was not appropriate that they were in the building handing out water. She ignored me. I repeated my statement. She told me that she would handle it. She did nothing. I then went to the assistant supervisor and he stood up, walked over to another table and then sat down. I then walked into the waiting room and they were reloading another dolly with more cases of water," Rockford said in a True the Vote incident report.

After handing out water and advocating for President Obama, the NAACP members started handpicking and moving people to the front of a long voting line inside the polling place according to the incident report. After multiple complaints from voters about the line cutting, Rockford received a phone call from downtown telling her to “stand down.”

“All of the sudden one of the clerks, Dayan Cohen, said that someone wanted to speak to me on the phone. It was someone from downtown. I got on the phone and she said she was from downtown and that I needed to stand down and that it was okay for the NAACP to be within 100 ft. and they could hand out water. I told her that the NAACP was inside the building, wearing the NAACP clothing and caps and were handing out water and moving people from the back of the lines to the front of the lines,” Rockford said.

At this point, NAACP members were instructed to turn their clothing inside out, which they refused to do and said they weren’t going to stop their actions inside the polling place. Their behavior and actions to move people to the front of the line continued for the rest of the evening. Texas State Representative Sylvester Turner, a former Texas NAACP leader, was also seen outside the building talking with voters.

“The NAACP basically ran this poll location and the judges did nothing about it,” Rockford said.

Time for the gal who wore a “Vote The Bible” shirt to go do the same thing, and if they treat her differently than they treated the NAACP, sue them. Or even better, somebody should make shirts saying National Association for the Advancement of Non-Colored Persons and try doing the same thing...

How is this news story only ‘breaking’ now? This apparently happened yesterday.

Since its founding (as an outgrowth of the Niagara movement) in the early 1900s, the NAACP has been a corrupt racist outfit. Among its early participants was the despicable W.E.B. DuBois, a committed communist. Other equally vile characters from the beginning include leftists such as Henry Moskowitz, Florence Kelley and Oswald Villard. The latter advocated a collectivist economic structure. The roots of the NAACP stem from the radical left and, if anything, this latest incident just reveals how anti-American it is.

I've seen the NAACP from inside since, regretfully, I was a member in the early 60's while a naive college student. I saw the light and became an unwavering supporter of Christian Conservative causes thereafter, actively campaigning and supporting Barry Goldwater in 1964.

"judges did nothing about it"

Why should they? They're government pukes. It's the people's job to maintain freedom.

Patriots did nothing about it. What's their excuse?

That's right! Instead of continuing to hand our nation over to the NAALCP like we always do... We should simply fight fire with fire and throw that rotten "no justus, no peace" right back in their faces.

Just like their leader, they know that regular peace loving folks will wilt in these confrontations because fighting their brand of fire with righteous fire simply "isn't done" in polite society!!!

It's becoming a national disgrace the way good law abiding citizens just can't seem to stand up for what's right in this once great country.

The so-called "civil rights movement" has already "overcome" long ago and needs to now stand down when it unnecessarily steps way over all lines like this!!!

Not to condone this, but frankly, the people who showed up here to vote were 98% likely to vote for Obama anyway. The area is known as Acres Homes, and the residents are predominantly African-American.They tend to be more activist, calling city hall, etc...

I know from personal experience how scarey this sort of thing is. But it really does not compare to what our troops have to endure. Folks, if we see stuff like this, we must force their hands. Tape every bit of it and upload every few minutes to photobucket or some other service in case phones are taken. Either you call police or force them to call police on you. Never ever flipping stand down. Those of you who will be in line early morning or near closing on Tues in swing states are going to see some things that will shock you. I am poll watching in the hood Tues where the paid poll workers tried a few things in 2010. I will need to be removed in a squad car before I leave them to their tricks without adult supervision.

Two questions (since I am clearly not from Texas):

(1) Where was either the Texas State Police or the AG's office? Wouldn't a phone call to the latter have initiated a response of some source?

(2) Why did the lady not ask for some confirmation that person "from downtown" was who they said they were?

I am certain that doing any of these things would have resulted in the lady being kicked out (a pathetic reality, to be honest), but the stakes are much too high in this election.

Only thing that one could do to help this particular precinct is to blast off and nuke it from orbit... It would be the only way to be sure!

I have seen photographs of poll workers wearing SEIU shirts too, guess who is counting your votes?

There are no stakes involved here. This is a Dem precinct through and through.

Texas is solid Red.

Don’t know what local race this might have an impact on if any. It does show a complete disregard for laws and decorum amognst our feral people in this country. There is a reason they make up 80% of the prison population. They think rules don’t apply to them

Houston has a lot of radical Black majority areas. This was the racist NAACP taking over the hood’s voting place.

Still, I want to see the racist radicals locked up for getting out of the closet this far.

Telling people how to vote has always gone well in Texas. That’s a great plan, I’ll tell you what.

Is it racist to curse the people who thought it would be a good idea to bring slaves to the New World?

“And why did not ONE PERSON think to videotape this????????

In many states you can’t take pix or video in a polling place or for a certain distance from them.

I think this came about because of efforts to count how many people came in to vote, in those areas where the turnout is over 90 percent.

Probably because it took place INSIDE the polling place and the second the poll watcher started filming, s/he'd be arrested for violating the law.
