Las Vegas Woman Arrested After Trying To Vote Twice
CBS Las Vegas ^ | November 2, 2012 | CBS

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — FBI agents arrested a woman Friday in Las Vegas on charges that she tried to vote twice in the presidential election, Secretary of State Ross Miller said.

A criminal complaint accuses Roxanne Rubin of casting a ballot at an early voting location in Henderson on Oct. 29, then trying to vote again at a polling site in Las Vegas on the same day.

Miller said poll workers questioned Rubin when they found her name in a database that showed she had already cast a ballot, but she denied having voted and insisted she be allowed to vote.

The election workers did not allow Rubin to vote and reported the incident to the Clark County registrar, who notified the secretary of state.

An investigation was launched by the Nevad’s multi-jurisdictional Elections Integrity Task Force.

Rubin, 56, lives in Henderson and is a registered Republican, according to the Clark County registrar’s office.

Rubin was arrested around 4 p.m. at the Riviera hotel-casino, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. She was charged with one felony count of voting more than once in the same election.

“There are two important points worth noting in this case,” Miller said in a statement. “First is that, as we’ve said and demonstrated in the past, we take all elections complaints very seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

“Second, this demonstrates the integrity of the system. Someone thought that by going to two different locations they’d be able to cast two ballots. The system immediately caught that, the task force responded and an arrest was made.”

The task force is investigating at least one other alleged incident of someone trying to vote twice, Miller said

Registered Republican..Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. I don't care who she was voting for or what her political affiliations are, she should be prosecuted.

How do we know that a Democrat didn’t show up at the polls before she did and voted in her name? I assume that no voter ID is required.

She was charged with one felony count of voting more than once in the same election.

If she had been a registered DemocRAT, the "pollsters" would have explained that it was the voting machine's fault and that the machines had been "acting up all day."

Not good, she needs real jail time no matter what she is. 10 years would be a good start.

Maybe she was previously registered as Dem (and voted for Obama) but, in preparation for the inevitable claims of fraud, she registered Repub and insisted, despite being TOLD she was in the database as having already voted, on voting again (Not subtle, right). Cue the charges of cheating should Romney win.
Or maybe she was just an idiot.

Wouldn't surprise me if an Illegal Alien already used her name/identity to cast a vote for Obama.

Interesting how the media wasted no time in pointing out a registered Republican accused of vote fraud, but normally bury any story if it would involve a registered dem.

In any case, if this person actually did attempt to vote twice, it doesn't matter to me who she was voting for, throw the book at her.

Do they have voter I’d law? If not someone could have cast her vote for her.

In NC all they do is ask your name and address. I asked the poll worker what’s to stop someone from looking that info up and voting as me,his answer, nothing.

I don’t believe it.

If she is a registered R, how long has it been, since last week? A dem could register as a R, then vote multiple times HOPING to get caught, just so such a story could become news, that a R was a fraudulent voter.

This would strengthen Holder’s no-ID policy.

I agree with the other poster who said if this person is a registered R, some demRat could have used her name and voted before she could do so.

Either way, I smell a ‘Rat on this story.

“No doubt there are some registered Democrats being bused around for the same thing.”

And they’re probably being paid $20 for each vote they cast.

That was my first thought...

I wonder how often people vote absentee and then vote at the poll ?

Hell, we KNEW she was a Republican without having to be told. First of all, the act was REPORTED!! Had she been a Democrat, that never would have happened. Secondly, she did NOT have an SEIU driver taking her from poll to poll.
And of course, she voted in person, using her own name! Dems are MUCH slicker than that.

Probably good that there’s a new story to get the word out about the arrest in any case

Doesn’t mean she voted twice. Someone else could have used her name. I bet the perpetrator turns out to be a Democrat, probably a union thug.

No way do I believe Rubin is a "registered Republican" and pulled this "stuff."

Surely, must be more than one or the woman reregistered as GOP in advance to attempt this " stuff!"

Let's get all the facts before jumping to conclusions. One possibility is that somebody else might have voted in this lady's name earlier. So long as we continue this nonsense of "no ID required" - I'm sure this happens all the time.

That said, if she is truly guilty of vote fraud, she should be imprisoned a minimum of 10 years and have her voting rights revoked for life.

I take voter fraud very seriously. That fact that my vote on Tuesday will likely be cancelled out by somebody else voting fraudulently enrages me.
