Las Vegas Woman Arrested After Trying To Vote Twice
CBS Las Vegas ^ | November 2, 2012 | CBS

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — FBI agents arrested a woman Friday in Las Vegas on charges that she tried to vote twice in the presidential election, Secretary of State Ross Miller said.

A criminal complaint accuses Roxanne Rubin of casting a ballot at an early voting location in Henderson on Oct. 29, then trying to vote again at a polling site in Las Vegas on the same day.

Miller said poll workers questioned Rubin when they found her name in a database that showed she had already cast a ballot, but she denied having voted and insisted she be allowed to vote.

The election workers did not allow Rubin to vote and reported the incident to the Clark County registrar, who notified the secretary of state.

An investigation was launched by the Nevad’s multi-jurisdictional Elections Integrity Task Force.

Rubin, 56, lives in Henderson and is a registered Republican, according to the Clark County registrar’s office.

Rubin was arrested around 4 p.m. at the Riviera hotel-casino, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. She was charged with one felony count of voting more than once in the same election.

“There are two important points worth noting in this case,” Miller said in a statement. “First is that, as we’ve said and demonstrated in the past, we take all elections complaints very seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

“Second, this demonstrates the integrity of the system. Someone thought that by going to two different locations they’d be able to cast two ballots. The system immediately caught that, the task force responded and an arrest was made.”

The task force is investigating at least one other alleged incident of someone trying to vote twice, Miller said

Your assuming she did try to vote twice..

Look we all know the Dems vote the dead..so is it really any harder to steal the identity of the dead then the living?

And now add the no id required ..anybody can claim to be anybody and steal your vote

I already have heard reports of people now stealing identity to use to vote

This could get bad because it so easy...think about it

We are all swamped with campaign junk mail right?

So they have your info...so you are in an easy to get databases of Names and address of registry voters, they know your party and know your polling place...

So with no ID requires you just need the list of name...go early from poll to poll and voting other people vote...

How simple is that?

In fact because of early voting at registrar's office..they could do it days before with no worry of bumping in to the really person

Do you really put in past the hard core "by any means necessary" left of just gabbling a list of Rep votes and doing this?....

The key is this "No ID" BS...and who is fighting for this?...

Plus if you go big it adds a level of confusion in the election.. it put in it the courts...and again who loves that?...

Its cheap simple and dirty...it the left's style

I don’t know if she is innocent or guilty, but ... what if someone other than she voted using her name the first time?

I would propose execution. She tampered with the very fabric of America.

Deaths will solve that problem as nothing else will.

I am totally suspicious of the story. First of all, Nevada has a Democrat secretary of state who is a Democrat first and foremost. There have been numerous reports of voting machines that have defaulted to Obama, but he has totally dismissed the reports. The fact that voter fraud in Nevada is not taken seriously by him or the local Democrat Registrar of voters says a lot. No ID is required at the polls and there is no verification of voter registration information done upon registration. It is an "honor system" with a warning of penalties, but no one is ever prosecuted. In Nevada we hear public service announcements all the time about ID theft, but our secretary of state doesn't believe that voter fraud is possible, unless it is being perpetrated by a Republican.

I don't know the woman charged. I don't know if she is really a Republican. I don't know if she actually tried to commit voter fraud. But I find it suspect that they didn't bother to find out if someone had already voted in her name. They immediately charged her, before even investigating. I suspect this is all a set-up to shut up and intimidate Republicans who complain about voter fraud. The fact that they show up at her work to arrest her with the FBI and full media with cameras running tells me that this is all for show. My BS meter is all the way to the right.

Yup.
And,,,
“they found her name in a database that showed she had already cast a ballot, but she denied having voted and insisted she be allowed to vote.”

She still insisted,,,,To my thinking,,, if she was guilty, and was caught,,,it would be unlikely that she’d continue to insist on voting, but would just try and get out of the situation. Yet she insisted on being allowed to vote! I smell a RAT!

Apparently her signature matched the one on her first vote.

More info here:

But... given the widespread publicity of this story, I’m a bit suspicious as to it’s validity. I wonder how long she’s been registered as a Republican.

Considering the fraud in the 2010 election in Nevada - Angle up 8% going into the election, but somehow Reid wins (with the help of lots of weird voter machine action, said machines being maintained by the SEIU) - I believe your hypothesis has a high probability of being true.

Her problem is, if this is the case, how does she prove it?

That is why we need voter ID. Without it they can not prosecute this woman because they can not prove that she in deed was the one who cast to first vote!

[ Yet she insisted on being allowed to vote! I smell a RAT! ]

The Unions (many Unions) are busing in rats from all over the place in many places..
WHat does it take to piss a republican OFF?... Jeeze..

I would willing to bet this IS (and has been) COMMON..
especially in some places.. and everywhere to some extent..

I wonder what voter fraud has not even been discovered yet..
Republicans generally don’t seem to care..
Which encourages MORE OF IT..

**Note: could explain why the last three(or more) republican presidential candidates have been flaming in your face liberals.. i.e. Dole, Bush, McLaim, Romney..

OH!.. and literally ALL presidential conservative candidates have be rejected.. MAYBE THEY WEREN’T..

I don’t care who she was voting for. She needs a fair trail and if convicted a speedy execution. Vote fraud is a direct attack on the entire body politic and it needs to be treated just as seriously as high treason.

Without voter ID, I think it would be hard to get a conviction for voting twice. Are poll workers going to remember one face out of hundreds or thousands? I suspect that somebody else voted using her name. Just look how easy it was for James O’Keefe’s “Project Veritas” guy to get Eric Holder’s ballot.

If it is true and she did vote twice, string her up!

She was under the impression that she had not voted the first time because of at least bureaucratic problems at the 1st polling place (Henderson), if not also technical problems.

Which raises the questions of, who then among the poll workers at the 1st polling place, voted in her name?

Who among the poll workers at the 1st polling place, was/were not paying attention but should have been, and they left her with the impression that she had not voted?

Her story is, that she then went to another, the 2nd, polling place (Eastern Avenue) in order to try and vote again; where, upon being told that she could not vote again, she left her phone number and a request to be informed of when she would be allowed to vote.

She wasn't trying to hide anything.

The people in government who have been chafing at the bit to make an example of somebody, leaped to some conclusions that a more in-depth investigation would probably find, are unwarranted.

Some poll worker at the 1st polling place, is not quite telling the events there, accurately, when confronted by the fire-breathing special tactical response unit looking to justify the wishes of whoever is running things in the Nevada voting machinery --- the kind of response that Eric Holder has not managed to send to the residence of the two fellows armed with sticks, outside the now-infamouse polling place in Philly 2008.

re: where, upon being told that she could not vote again, she left her phone number and a request to be informed of when she would be allowed to vote.

Guilty people who intend to commit fraud don’t leave their telephone numbers (unless they are really stupid).

Registered Republican..Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. I don't care who she was voting for or what her political affiliations are, she should be prosecuted.

Before getting our panties in a wad, I should mention. What is she? A claimed republican or an actual one?

Even that is meaningless.
I am a registered Democrat, have been all my life, but have never voted Democrat since 1960.

There is more to this story.

I just went back and read my original comment...it should have read...

“Registered Republican..Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. I don’t care who she was voting for or what her political affiliations are, IF SHE IS GUILTY, she should be prosecuted.”

I agree with you completely.
