There’s more: Georgia power crew turned away from Sandy-stricken New York for refusing to join union
the daily caller ^ | november 2, 2012 | David Martosko

A business coordinator at a power company in western Georgia told The Daily Caller Friday afternoon that workers from his electric-utility employer were not permitted to help restore power to New York consumers because they would not join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

The revelation comes on the heels of similar stories TheDC has reported about power crews from Alabama and Florida who volunteered to fix downed power lines after Hurricane Sandy left millions in the Northeastern United States in the dark this week.

“We’re not a large utility, so we were only able to send up two or three crews,” Glenn Cunningham, a business continuity coordinator with Diverse Power in LaGrange, Georgia, said in a phone interview.

“They worked in Maryland, and they went up to New York, and when they got up there it was, ‘out come the union papers.’”

“And our guys were like, ‘Hey, we’re not joining nothing. We came up to help, but if you don’t want it, that’s fine.’ So they turned around and drove all the way back here to Georgia.”

Threaten is the keyword. No threats, he should have acted immediately based on the emergency.

My dad was in the IBEW.

His experiences led us to realize that unions are for the unions, not the workers. What happens to the workers is a lot less important than the union itself.

This silliness about joining does not surprise me.

Just saw about 30 Georgia Power trucks on I287 headed towards Westchester about 45 minutes ago. Hopefully they won’t get hassled.

If they do the National Guard should be ordered to arrest the union thugs on the spot for disrupting emergency relief efforts.

Why should we give a damn about these union butt kissing states? NY n NJ get exactly what they deserve! I’m for allowing them to “go screw themselves”.

Not nice to kiss unionbutt. Even less nice to spout union lies.

The demand was from IBEW. It was delivered to the Utility Corp. office, who in turn recalled their crew.

From what I’ve read, he didn’t know about this until after the fact. He has just a little bit to keep him busy right now. He has made it very clear that this had better not take place again.

As for the Right to Work law, New Jersey citizens need to push for that through their state legislature.

I don’t agree with EVERYTHING Christie says and does...but I see him to be FAR better than any other alternatives there right now.

because help from non-union states won’t waste their time and money for nothing.

YEP! And the papers will be full of woe about the 'heartless' people that refuse to help.

Christie looks like one of the fat union bossess with diamond ear rings that pulls up in his limo and says to the non-union guys, “So, youse boys are going to join the union right now before youse finish that job youse are working on, right? It would be a real shame if your trucks got blown to pieces overnight, right? Your bosses back home wouldn’t be happy, right? Here. Sign right here. My muscles, I mean secretaries, will finish the paperwork for youse and get your union cards printed right up. And when youse get back home, stop in to talk to us before youse go back to work.”

And anyone wonders why the liberals treat conservatives like fools?!

That sounds pretty much like a quip made by a liberal “expert.”
