No, the doofus cannot legally suspend the elections. Certain states, under their own accord to so, but the-guy-in-the-white-house cannot.(That is if I understand correctly)
We didn’t even suspend them during the Civil War, why do it because of a storm. It has NEVER been done.

Secondly, the federal government is failing miserably re: Sandy and would doubtful want even more responsibility when it can't bear up under what it already has.
And as to Bloomberg, Sandy may be his undoing. People are starving and homeless and Bloomy still thought the Marathon should go on.

To suspend the elections would require an act of Congress. The pResident has no such power regardless of any executive order he creates.
This is tin hat stuff IMO. The military would not be complicit in a martial law scheme. There are limits to their pledge to obey.
Please folks.....All you “Martial Law” theorists forget one important fact. Martial Law in the US is unenforceable. Unless of course the politicians stand up the militia. :-)

Congress determines when presidential elections are to be held, whuch they did in the 19th century (firest Tuesday after the first Monday in Nov.). The individual states actually run the election. The president has no say in the matter.
I wish that the marathon had gone on without him having to face the political pressure of the last few days.
He finally would have been exposed but people yelping about it beforehand helped him to keep the mask in place.

As much talk as the GOP at the Fed level puts out...when it comes to countering Obama...they wimp out (ObamaCare, Birth Certificate/Eligibility). The one thing that would prevent an Obama Exec Order to suspend elections is that the State and local jurisdictions do have a lot of rights when it comes to conducting elections. and, tend to have more backbone to stand up to Obama. Also, there would not be enough manpower to enforce an Obama X Order dealing with the election

My reaction at the time was that he wouldn't, not because he lacked the desire or the scruples, but simply because he didn't believe he would be able to get away with it.
My sense here is much the same. If Obama felt he could somehow implement and get away with it, he would not hesitate to do so, but I suspect at present, the most sober of his advisers would caution him against even attempting it.
Besides, they've been working on their election fraud plans far too long to let them be for naught.

Folks you need to understand how the Internet is different from MSM. They live and die with advertising, as we say “go where the eyes are” With the explosion in use of the Internet and Smartphones and digital media distribution it is no surprise to me what is going on here.
When you visit these sites they make money, period. You may (or may not) find useful info here but if they can keep you coming back with the latest version of “porn” then they are working you like a cheap whore. Alexa, the main ranking service for web site traffic is what motivates them and as long as you feed the Lion they will keep pumping the crap.
This is reality and the wave of the future but you have to look at their track record, are they acting like a store checkout magazine with the latest hot gossip or are they a solid source of trusted info? It is the same decision, now made digitally about deciding to buy or not buy a copy of the NYT and trusting them to drive what you think.
This is my business and much more beyond it, but as long as you act like an animal that likes to be sheared on a regular basis they will keep doing the same thing.

I too have worried about Martial Law over the years as a political weapon. It’s taken me some time to realize that Martial Law can only work if the Law abiding go along with it. Lose them and you lose it all.
And that goes for all levels of government too.
The scary part is that the top levels of the military seem to be in the process of re-configuartion......then, O has the DOJ, the Military and the Press....the perfect storm
You make good points, but the government also has to have the PEOPLE, when they lose the LAW-ABIDING percentage of the populace Martial Law can’t be adequately enforced everywhere. Certainly it can be done in relatively small areas, but everywhere? It would take the cooperation of the citizenry to do so.
And that’s where the media comes into play and their power has been waning for years. Yes they are still strong and as long as they can stay in front of a story with their chosen spin they can keep things going the way they want it to go. But with alternative means of getting out the opposing point of view being more prevalent that power diminishes quickly and believe me, their are few things more powerful than an irate person or populace that knows they have been fooled and mislead and can DO something about it.
