Zogby: Sandy Helping Obama With Independents
Newsmax ^ | 11/2/12 | John Bachman and Patrick Hobin

Posted on 11/03/2012 5:56:48 AM PDT by lasereye

Despite President Barack Obama turning the tide with a five-point swing among Independents with his response to Hurricane Sandy, the race is still too close to call, pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax TV.

The latest NewsmaxZogby polling numbers show Obama, who was down three points just a few days ago, has pulled ahead by a couple of points.

Zogby said the president is “turning the tide with Independents.”

“He was down by as many as nine and 10 points nationally among independents and now what we see is that that’s a razor thin,” he said.

“The governor leads by only three points among independents and it’s trending Obama. I wouldn’t call this big momentum but . . . he was down three points three days ago and now he’s up two. That is a five-point swing. At the same time, we do see him improving his numbers with young voters and hitting the 60 percent mark. And, of course, that’s very significant. It doesn’t match what he did last time but it’s enough to put him in contention. And right now I wouldn’t tell you to see your bookie with a thousand-dollar bet on Obama winning but it’s certainly looking better, obviously, more competitive.”

“What did Obama do about Sandy?”

Are you still alive? Apparently. All because of Obama. Just as everything bad is Bush’s fault, all good flows from The O.

Back in the mid to late 1990's Zogby use to be a respected and accurate pollster, but sometime after 9/11 he took a far left turn and became little more than a democrat push pollster (as an an Arab, he thought GWB was on a crusade to destroy the Muslim world or some such nonsense). He lost all remaining credibility when on the eve of the 2004 election he predicted John Kerry would win by a 4-6 point margin.

Hamas and AlQuaida and the Communist Party and Castro and Chavez and Putin and Madonna and Barbara Streisand and Michael Moore and “reverand” Wright and the Muslim Brotherhood (and Zobgy) support Obama.

Independents do not.

(What did Obama do for the people of the East Coast suffering from the storm? He went there for a nice quick Photo Op and then raced off to raise even more $$$ for himself at stupid-rich people’s dinners....). That’s what Obama did for the storm victims. So naturally they’ll all line up to vote for him, right!?

Well Zogby and his rants post Sept 11 2001 his hatred of Republicans is well know. Nobody listens to him anymore, his outfit is like PPP, juggling numbers to get the result he wants. This last article is a joke. I mean really John a few pictures and this is going to change the election not exaclty LIFE magazine Mi Lai type stuff, are you really this stupid? I have seen Rassmussen interviewed lately and I think he is the next one on the ash heap of history. Probably come in the bottom 1/4 of all the polls. Fatty in his zeal to be fair to the demonic forces on the left has been tone deaf and intransigent also. Micheal Barrone put it correctly on Hannity. Polling was invented in the time where everyone had a land-line, and people answered it. Public Polling is not even good for gauging sentiment anymore, its just about useless. Magic 8 ball is better. Internal poling by the campaigns is done by phone but also by a young pretty thing holding a clipboard outside a grocery store...I was polled this way. Romney has it won...its over and has been over since 2010, this is all Kabuki theater

What did Obama do about Sandy?

Doesn’t matter what he did. It’s what Pravda West SAID he did that matters. Anyway, this isn’t good news only 3 days out. Libs were crowing that Sandy would put him over the top. They might just be right.

Has the network news been covering the aftermath of the storm or basically down playing the fact people are still out of homes, gas, food, etc?

Are you going to Concern Troll every thread till election day? We get it, you are nervous, you are predisposed to be skeptical and negative. Home stretch honey, we don't need your emoting and vomiting your thoughts on why you are uneasy in every damn thread. Don't you have kids to take care of, laundry to fold or grocery shopping to do? Maybe you should go do that, you are real Debbie Downer and unnecessarily so.

I think Zogby has it all wrong!!! Obama now owns his very own “Katrina” fiasco!!!

You got that right.

Government incompetence on the parade. If it isn't union rules interfering with relief efforts, it is the gross misallocation of funds, resources and services people are desperately relying upon.

That was before the “freeze and starve in the dark” headlines started setting in. The news now is “where's the help?” People are scrounging dumpsters for food, pooping in apartment hallways, waiting in mile-long lines for gas, and unions are turning away non-union utility company help. These are the headlines people associate with Sandy now.

Gee, Big Government DIDN'T make it all better??? Sorry. There was no problem finding fuel for Air Force One to jet in for a quick photo op, but the rest of you folks enjoy them gas lines. Big Brother Cares.

Obama wouldn’t get that much of a bump by just showing but it was Christie’s over the top praise that did it. He’s a Rep and praising Obama like he had a big ol’ school girl crush and for what? His state on the shore is still an effing disaster and now Independents are moving back to that bastard! And it’s not just Zogby, Rasmussen is showing the same trend with Indies this last few days; moving to Obama.

Yup. I bet that Christie’s being obama’s puppet had a lot to do with it, too.

It’s a scam .
Axelrod sent out the directive to massage polls and use sandy as the excuse !
Sandy is old news now except for the mess created by govt .
Don’t fall for it .

As for Ras , his state by state polling record is pretty bad only his natl poll is accurate and it means nothing this year .

Ras is still using a very inaccurate + 4 Dem sample and for no reason .
He refuse to state why he uses it .

Look for Ras to fall from
His accuracy standing this year !

Precisely. So-called independents are just people who are too clueless to know *what* they are, and/or too gutless to admit that they are really liberals.

Either way — clueless or gutless — when confronted with a choice between Mitt Romney and 4 more years of Bonzo the Wonder Chimp, you can count on them voting the wrong way nearly every time.

Romney is not now, and never was, up big among so-called independents. I said weeks ago that any media-cooked poll that showed otherwise was only fabricating a temporary lead in that category for Romney so that that they could gleefully show him crashing back down at the last minute — which is *exactly* what the media is doing.

Remember all that “How can Romney be up only 2 points overall when he is up 15 among independents?” crap? That’s just what it was — crap. A fabricated lead among independents created only for the purposes of destroying that lead at the proper time, which is now.

There does seem to be some tightening of the Indy vote the last week. This is across several polls, including RAS. Whether it is the hurricane or just the normal tightening of the race, I don’t know.

I still believe Romney will with 53-47, due to massive GOTV. But I don’t think we can discount the Indy vote dynamics. The problem with the hurricane from an election perspective, is will it impact the vote. Or is it just impacting the polling?

Welp too bad for zerO his party has been pushing early voting and now the republicans utilized it this year as well. Those last minute game changers in a race don’t really have the impact they used to, and the aftermath of the storm is just being shown on TV the last two days. By Tuesday nobody is gonna remember a photo op. The people are voting on the fact friends, family are being laid off, or having to take part time low paying jobs to survive. Lets not forget Obamacare is extremely unpopular. What has zer0 said he was gonna do the next four years but raise taxes on “the rich” and enforce his horror show called Obamacare?!

Some Republicans, maybe including Romney, have to say something about it. Otherwise it’s like they don’t think anything’s wrong. Something like “Where is FEMA? Why aren’t they helping? Mr. President, people are still without heat in their homes and water to drink”

I hate to turn on Ras now because just last week when Romney was 50 for days we all cheered the poll. Now it’s tied we say it’s not reliable?
okay. But hopefully you’re right!
It’s all about turnout anyway at this stage of the game.
