Defense Jobs Will be Massively Cut -- Obama's goal and promise

ref link and there is a previous one from Brietbart: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/24/Obama-Flip-Flops-on-Debate-Statement-About-Sequester

He said "the sequester", a term the media has been trying to hide, wouldn't happen on national TV during the third debate so he won't lose votes from swing states, but the very next day during an interview he gave to the Des Moines Register which he promised on condition that it not be printed he took credit for the sequester legislation and proudly said that he will let the sequester happen along with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts as part of "his" plan for cutting the deficit.

After complaints from the media they allowed the newspaper to print part of the interview. From those parts the media "claimed" there was nothing to hide. They refused to report the parts that mattered.

Defense Cuts Looming

I am in the industry and I know I will lose my job if Obama gets elected. The media has suppressed this news like all things to help Obama. Over 85% of the people I work with, a defense company that is the largest employer of my city, do not know what the term sequestration is and what it's all about. The president's top aide came up with sequestration legislation and Congress unwittingly pushed it forward. The legislation calls for big cuts if the Congress and the president do not agree on how to solve the budget crisis. Meaning the president alone can make this happen. Obama promised during the Dem Convention that he will cut defense.

After getting major lost votes from swing states with large amounts of defense related jobs Obama denied on national televison during the last debates that the sequester will happen --hoping to get back the votes from the thousands affected in various states.

After promising not to let the sequester happen during the debate, the very next day, in an interview with the Des Moines Register which Obama gave only on condition that none of the interview would be printed, Obama told the Register he will solve the deficit promblem by letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire (raising taxes) and letting the sequester happen. As some of you know after much flack some of the interview got printed. Ref links.

What people don't understand is that 15-20 percent of the federal budget is defense and 50 percent or half of the sequester cuts is defense. This is a massive cut. The bulk of the cuts will come from defense and the remaining domestic policies are not considered crucial amongst the democrat congress.

All of you who have defense jobs you happen to assume that a large percentage of you will lose your jobs just like what happened to engineers in space during his first term.

Insiders in the know and his advisers told Obama that defense can't be cut anymore than it has been, but he is ignoring their advice.

Obama wants to make cuts here and spend more there and who knows he may still not cut the deficit. Under Bush the deficit went up 43% but under Obama it's "doubled." Billions given to other countries, many who did not even ask him for it, and millions given to so called green projects that never creates jobs but magically file bankruptcy taking the millions (your tax dollars) with them and then showing up as donors to the Obama campaign.

I said “to solve the budget crisis”

I meant to say “to solve the deficit crisis”

I’ve worked for several defense contractors .
Everyone knows when cuts are coming.

Much less guarded info than private sector.
Less pay but less cut throat .
Give and take.

Every US Defense-related worker should reject Benghazi-Coward Obama when they vote.

Sorry to be a dissenter, but I think all government needs to be cut. We can’t keep borrowing from China to spend what we don’t have.

If Romney loses I lose big time. My job will be gone when sequestration goes into effect. I have spent my entire adult life in the defense of this country. 23 years as an active duty Marine, and the last 5 years as a Defense Contractor. I love what I do and hate the thought of having to do anything else. Finding a job that pays as good as the one I have now and has the same job satisfaction will be tough.

In 1993 Clinton declared that we had “won” the Cold War. One million of us Cold Warriors were let go. You will learn to cope as we did.

My management is also sweating bullets over sequestration. I didn't get a WARN Act notice (unless it was dropped into my mailbox at the office while I was out today). I would have heard the howling from other employees if notices went out on time as required for the January 2 minus 60 days deadline.

Most of what I do is CS/EE related. Skills that are marketable in other ways. I might even fallback to teaching embedded systems at the local university. The pay would not be as good, but I would be home instead of working away from my family for the last 3 years.

The last continuing resolution was passed by Congress for 6 additional month of funding for FY13 starting 10/1/2012 and terminating on 3/27/2013. That matches some of the "extensions" my customer has granted. In theory, those of us currently working have "coverage" through 3/27/2013. We would have to get a notification Jan 27, 2013. That may be sufficient to give the company a "pass" on sending notices just before the election.

The CEO of the company I work for put out a video entitled Sequestration and the Defense Industry. Only 1 in 8 people viewed the video. The video has a views count and I know how many people the company employs. When I ask people at work if they saw the Sequestration video their response was “what’s that?”

Normally we are told of big cuts, but this one even the CEO has said he won’t know the full effects of it come next year.

“Well, keep in mind that some of this is us just working through a very, very deep worldwide financial-based recession.”

This is patently false. We are in a government-led Recession. If housing-for-all would have yielded no votes to Washington, then the bubble never would have happened.

Having worked in the DOD all of my career, I still have ties to Yuma Proving Ground. The people there believe that their jobs are tied to a Romney win.

Many believe that because of the lame duck session, they may end up being without work for a while, even if Romney wins.
