Pentagon on Benghazi Troop Movements: ‘Swift Action’ on Night of Attack (Didn't try to save lives)

On Friday, Pentagon spokesman George Little provided new details of U.S. military movements made the night of the attack in case they were needed.

Little said that within a few hours of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered U.S. military forces to move to Sicily in preparation for an uncertain situation in Libya.

“This department took swift action,” said Little. “It did respond, the secretary ordered forces to move.

“We were prepared for a range of contingencies in the course of this very tragic incident,” said Little. “We were ready for the need to augment security measures at our facilities in Libya, if called upon. We were prepared for the possibility, for instance, of a hostage situation, as well...

As previously reported, one of the units came from a U.S. military base in “Central Europe.” And Little disclosed that Panetta also ordered another team from the United States to head to Sigonella. Little refused to describe what kind of unit was sent from the U.S., though it was presumably a special operations team trained for hostage rescues.

Little said both the units “did not arrive until after the entire sequence of events was complete. … They were in Sigonella many hours after the attacks.”

Little reaffirmed that no other American aircraft were involved over Libya the night of the attack beyond the unarmed surveillance drone that arrived 90 minutes into the attack. As for reports that an AC-130 gunship could have been dispatched over Libya at the time of the attack, Little was clear that “there was no AC-130 within a continent’s range of Benghazi” that night.

It gets worse. Pentagon says they reacted with plans for “hostage situation”. No attempt to save lives or intervene in attack.

This doesn't wash. When the Critical Incident Report went out from the consulate in the first 30 minutes of the attack those forces would have automatically been put in motion by their force commanders in Europe.

When you ignore warnings begging for more security and, instead, actually reduce security then you are not likely to be pro active at the perimeter. There should be forces available within two hours reach of Libya at all times. And probably are.

Can you believe this spokesman in any case?

It’s obvious why they aren’t making statements.

Every time they do, they get caught in more spider-webs.

That's why the FES team wasn't used to back up the FBI investigators and get them in there in two days. Instead it takes them 24 days to get on scene.

That's why Lindsey Graham can make one phone call and get access to one of the attackers in custody in Tunisia within 48 hours and in almost two months 0coward never even made a call to Tunisia.

It's a coverup from start to today.

Last night it was the CIA’s operation. (so said either the WaPo or NYT’s, I forget which one)

That tells me they EXPECTED hostages. The two SEALs obviously didn’t get the memo.

Since Sicily is in Europe there could have been C-130s there and he could have called that, a continent away.

It sounds like they decided swiftly to do nothing.

Perhaps they reacted with plans for “hostage situation “ because hostage situation WAS the plan.

I saw Greta. I’ve never heard her say “damn” before. Foreign policy journalists were at the consulate last week. They found documents relevant to the investigation even after the FBI supposedly went through. It’s like they don’t give a rat’s arse. This cover up is shameful. Outrageous. Obama should not be POTUS.

They probably thought there might be a hostage situtation since nobody could find the ambassador for hours.

Don’t pay any attention to anything the Obama administration says about this until they answer the questions why Chris Stevens was meeting with the Turks in Benghazi instead of Tripoli? What as being stored at the CIA annex and where and who was it going to?

Leon didn’t dispatch any C-130s because he doesn’t get frequent flyer miles on those. A Secretary of Defense who leaves his family in California and flies home to see them on the weekends while young men are being killed in Afghanistan. He is absolutely worthless.

Right on target IMO. Even the simplest of questions have been met with, “Our investigation..., nobody wants to get bottom of this more than I do..., yada yada yada.

Hell, to hear him tell it, we know more about it than he does. Some investigation huh.

Why dispatch forces to Sicily instead of using the forces that we had in Sicily? We did have F18s and this is a fact. F18s can and are armed with precision Hell Fire Missiles. We could have had an F-18 on target withing 1 hour of departure from Sicily. They can put a Hell Fire on your ass within a few feet, thus no danger of innocent collateral damage. They also can drop munition that will ruin your whole day and the day of those many meters away. We may have had AC 130 Gunships available but the administration refuses to say. The Administration says our predator drones were not carrying arms. Why were they not carrying arms? They can carry the Hell Fire missiles and have been used frequently over the last 4 years to kill terrorists.

This administration, I BELIEVE THEM NOT!

Leon Panetta es un gusano que miente!!!!!!!!!!!
