I think Tsunamis are probably the worst type of disaster. As bad as this is, a massive surge of 50’ from the other side of the Atlantic could wipe half or more of those states off the surface of the earth.

Look at the deaths in the Indian Ocean from the tsunami out there.

It makes our hundred or so look very small in comparison.

The damage here is widespread too though.

Right — I should have been more clear. A tsunami isn’t something that this region has ever had to deal with, at least not in recent millenia. I’m thinking more along the lines of the things we’ve dealt with periodically in the Northeast ... weather, blackouts, etc.

Tsunami would be bad. Not going to look it up but from memory there’s some volcano near Easter island that if sunk would wipe out entire east Coast US as far west as Ohio .
Emp’s have 900 mile radius?
Also there’s some super volcano out Midwest somewhere that would be catastrophic to entire US.

And no major catastrophies our side of the galaxy. Billions of years and Earths axis just happens to maintain an exact axis required to support life. And several galaxies including our own have a black hole at the center that apparently does no harm.
