In Shift, Romney Campaign Approaches Pennsylvania With a New Urgency
The New York Times ^ | November 1, 2012 | JEREMY W. PETERS

Posted on 11/02/2012 12:13:46 PM PDT by LucianOfSamasota

PHILADELPHIA — First there was quiet. Then came the “super PACs.” Now the candidate is on his way.

In a striking last-minute shift, the Romney campaign has decided to invest its most precious resource — the candidate’s time — in a serious play to win Pennsylvania.

Mr. Romney’s appearance here on Sunday could be a crafty political move to seriously undercut President Obama, or it could be a sign of desperation. Either way, his visit represents the biggest jolt yet in a state that was until recently largely ignored in the race for the White House.

Over the last several days, with polls showing Mr. Obama’s edge in the state narrowing, Republicans have sprung into action and forced the Democrats to spend resources here that could have gone toward more competitive battleground states.

No kidding...

Paul Ryan is going to Minnesota on Sunday for God’s sake!!

Would be completely pointless if they weren’t confident in their standing in other important States.

R/R are going for a EV MANDATE now.

Here below is no BS, but hard data that shows you and everyone else Obama is looking like toast in Ohio. It is better than all the public medial polls by Ras, Gallup, PPP, Quinnipiac, LSDNBC and rest of the clownish media polling groups that you see spooning you BS. :

"OH: Early Vote down 370,000 from 08

RT @justkarl: Early voting in OH. 2008: 1,628,013. 10/30/12: 1,257,320.

Again, Obama won 08 by 260,000 and piled up a 20 point lead in early voting. Still think it will be close?"

Dont know why the Times would say it was desperate.

They would suggest it may signal that Romney is giving up on Ohio (and maybe other states) and is pinning his hopes on a real long shot, PA. That would be sort of desperate if that's what's going on. Or it could be that he feels his chances in PA are at least as strong as his chances in OH and he wants a shot to take one or both of the two. That's strategy, not desperation. Which is it? Probably we'll find out on election day.

Romney will be in Morrisville, PA - Shady Brook Farms on Sunday.

2:30 doors open

5:30 event

They must be expecting a large crowd with that kind of fill up time.

I see it as desperation. If he doesn’t need PA to win, why come here? The only reason to leave OH is if it’s lost. Even if he was ahead in OH, he should stay there just to be certain, rather than dump money into a potential black hole in PA. How would he explain wasting money in PA if he lost it and also lost OH by a tiny margin?

If OH is lost, the best way to make up for OH is with CO, WI and NH. McCain/Palin campaigned their butts off in PA and had a huge loss. And no Republican’s won here since 1988. WI has a worse track record, but Paul Ryan and Scott Walker are good cards to play.

Romney could also go for CO, NH, NV and IA instead of PA, OH or WI. NV and IA have voted for the Republican Prez as recently as 2004. And CO and NH have been polling well for Romney.

LOL. What a joke. The NYT had to put that in there to throw a small bone to its readers to keep them committing suicide out of despair.

Romney will be back here in Iowa tomorrow for his umpteenth visit.

The PAC and his radio ads have been wall-to-wall over the last week.

Because we have seen enough of him in Ohio. Romney is in Cincinnati tonight. Cleveland on Sunday (before he heads to PA) and Columbus on Monday. Paul Ryan will be in Youngstown on Monday too.

So let them do a PA trip, a Minnesota trip, a Wisconsin trip. This is like when Obama went to Indidana and Virginia where no D had won since 1964.

Also, Obama has little to no paid staff in PA. bwahahaha. Unlike Ohio where there are a ton of them.

later in life, it would be interesting to see how these two end up, one whose preference in men runs to ‘Mr Cool’ and one whose preference in men runs to ‘Mr Dependable’. One will married to a man who is a good father and has his home paid for, the other will be a single mom with three kids from three different ‘Mr Cools’, and dead broke with ruined credit living in a HUD apartment.
