Senior counterterrorism officials felt cut out of the loop the night of the attack on the Benghazi consulate, according to emails that were shared with Fox News by military sources who are familiar with discussions of how to respond the night of the Sept. 11 attack.
Top State Department officials decided not to send an interagency rapid response unit designed to respond to terrorist attacks known as a FEST team, a Foreign Emergency Support Team. This team from the State Department and CIA has a military Joint Special Operations Command element to it and has been routinely deployed to assist in investigations -- for instance, after the USS Cole bombing and the bombings at the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
That team, these counterterrorism officials argue, could have helped the FBI gain access to the site in Benghazi faster. It ultimately took the FBI 24 days.
"The response process was isolated at the most senior level," according to one intelligence source. "Counterterrorism professionals were not consulted and a decision was taken to send the FBI on its own without the enablers that would have allowed its agents to gain access to the site in Benghazi in a timely manner." The FBI team did not get on the ground in Benghazi for several weeks after the attack and at that point any "evidence" had been rifled through by looters and journalists.

All Obama has to do now is say that the investigation’s concluded and the conclusion is classified Beyond Sensitive. Even he wasn’t told! And if he had been, Colonel Flagg would have had to...see to him.

Ambassador Stevens defied all the warnings, signals and real dangers himself to trek off to remote Benghazi while vastly underarmed for some reason. What was it?
Was he so ideologically bent, in the way of most Leftists, that he defied both the odds and human reason, or, like some sixties flower child thought somehow that smiling, trusting diplomacy and tolerance and endless negotiation with the blood thirsty would win the day?
What the heck was an ambassador doing in the enemy camp region?
His assignment may be what they want to keep a lid on.

I have no doubt that the first thing that Obama thought about was how bad Carter looked after his failed attempt to rescue the American hostages from Iran. Of course, at least Carter attempted a rescue.
Yep. The story strains credulity. Amb. Stevens was in Benghazi for the opening of a hospital, or was it a school? And doing this was so important that he went directly into a terrible security situation that he was well apprised of, and on 9/11 to boot? And what about that Turkish ambassador who was his last meeting of the day, right before the attack? Who is this person? What was so important that this meeting couldn't take place in relatively secure Tripoli?

Was there no supervision or follow through for 7 hours??? In the situation room, when the initial phone call came 9:40pm at the Consulate, Obama gave an order to “secure those Americans”, how long do you watch video from the drones before you figure out the orders aren’t being followed?

Obama stuck with the FBI and his trusted FBI director...you remember him, he couldn’t look up, couldn’t look America in the eye at the press conference (the national embarassment) following the Gabby Giffords shooting. He towed the line and wore his disgrace. He’s an Obama man for sure, he’ll reach the preferred conclusion on Benghazi.
