Massachusetts Mayor Bans the Word ‘Illegal’ for Illegal Immigrants By Elizabeth Harrington November 2, 2012
(CNSNews.com) – The mayor of Somerville, Mass., has banned the use of the term “illegals” when referring to illegal aliens.
Mayor and Alderman Joe Curtatone announced the new policy at a local board meeting last week, according to the Somerville Journal.
The decision was made after a “team of youths” urged the city to stop using the “hurtful” term. “I hadn’t given it a thought until they brought to my attention how hurtful that term is,” Board President Tom Taylor said. “Some of their testimony is pretty heart wrenching.”
One testimony came from Elis Melara, a 14-year-old whose cousin was deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) last year. “The way he said those words made me angry,” she said, referencing the word illegal.
“The officer made him seem like a criminal. He was talking about my cousin like he didn’t matter. He matters to me,” Melara said. “The word ‘illegal’ is a wrong way to describe a human being. A better word is ‘undocumented.’ I am thankful that I am an American and can do something about it.”
Curtatone, who is serving his fifth term as mayor since being elected in 2003, said his community has “always been a city of hope for immigrants around the world.”
“We made it clear here that whatever your status is, wherever you’re from, we are your mayor, we’re your aldermen, this is your city and we’re here to service you,” he said. “Anyone who wants to be a part of this city is welcome here.”

First of all, when did we let 14 year olds decide policy for the city?
Second what authority does the mayor have to ban any words?

If she's ever the victim of a sexual assault, I vote we use the term "non-reciprocated sexual advance." Wouldn't want to hurt the assailant's feelings. He's a person, too, you know.

Somerville voted 81% for President Bonzo in 2008; the town is too far gone for any decent person to bother worrying about, though we should pity the 19% who are stuck there but still courageously voted for McCain/Palin.
I've been using the term "Crimaliens" for years. Seems to fit and it saves 2 syllables.

Since the mayor likes illegal aliens so much, why not deport captured illegal aliens to the town of somerville? I’m sure sheriff Joe in Arizona has plenty of them and would be willing to give them a one way bus ticket to somerville.
Control of the language is one of the strongest weapons of the Left.
It doesn’t matter what we think or feel if we cannot express it.
Screw these people. You could call them ‘XYZ immigrants.’ But after everyone understood it meant ‘illegal immigrants,’ they’d be screaming it was racist and that we would have to drop the word ‘XYZ’ and not use it anymore if we didn’t want to be called racists. Screw them, screw them, screw them. When are we going to stand up to the silly bastards on the left?
Return to the old word. Wetbacks.
They can go to hell all of them. Trying to ban a word is just ignorant.
If these illegals don’t want to be called illegals then they shouldn’t be illegals.
Go back to whence they came and they will no longer be illegals.

Just call them aliens. I have been suggesting that states that give drivers licenses to illegals, stamp the licence, ALIEN, and tie it to a set of finger prints in lieu of a birth certificate. Tie the license expiration to a prepaid insurance policy. The license expires when the policy expires and must be renewed with the license.
none of these illegal aliens are immigrants. you need a green card to be an immigrant. at best they are visitors ~ but they’ve forgotten to get their visas and must go home now.
