CNN: Intelligence official offers new timeline for Benghazi attack
CNN ^ | November 1, 2012

Posted on 11/01/2012 5:01:57 PM PDT by maggief

A senior U.S. Intelligence official discounted a Fox news report from last Friday that said officials within the CIA chain of command denied repeated requests from its officers on the ground to assist during the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

The official insisted that the CIA operators on the ground were in charge of their movements and the safety of those who were preparing to respond was also an important consideration.

"There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support," the official said.

The official detailed the minute by minute account of what they say happened that night. There was a roughly 25 minute gap between when the officers at a nearby annex received the call for help from the mission to when the officers were able to get on their way to assist. During that time the officers at that annex location were getting their weapons loaded into vehicles, while others were on the phone trying to get local "friendly" militias with heavier weapons to help.

You mean it wasn’t a random protest of a video?

Washington did not offer any assistance at all. Our guys in Libya were totally on their own. The QRF was already in Libya. They were part of the same team. No one from outside was sent to help. Our cowards in DC left them to fight their own way out. They sent them there. And left them. They even had to charter their own air transport. Now I know the CIA has access to plenty airplanes and such. And you can’t tell me we only had one pilot among the bunch because Glen Doherty could fly.

But I like how they are coming up with yet another version of what happened.

So CNN, no name for this Senior [Obama appointed] official?

that said officials within the CIA chain of command denied repeated requests from its officers on the ground to assist during the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

Uummmm ...so called senior Obama official, the "stand down" orders came from somewhere else outside of the CIA. Your obfuscation is not going to work.

"There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support," the official said.

I knew this 6 weeks ago, glad CNN is now informed. So the white house watched this group get killed live on tv. They also sent no assets to help. Too bad this will be spun to discredit Fox.

Shame on CNN and people at the CIA.

"............while others were on the phone trying to get local "friendly" militias with heavier weapons to help."

While I'm sure that the CIA and the "Defense" Dept. (How is the Commerce Dept. not the Business Dept. that the b0z0 Bronco Bama claims to desire?) are rarely on the same page, why not try to get them to promptly put some of their their wicked assets on site?

Okay, I already have questions abou this timeline:

The timeline:

–Around 9:40pm (local time) the Annex receives the first call that the Mission is under attack.

–Fewer than 25 minutes later, a security team leaves the Annex for the Mission.

____ What ‘security team’? How many?

–Over the next 25 minutes the team members approach the compound, attempt to secure heavy weapons, and make their way onto the compound in the face of enemy fire.

____ What do they mean by “attempt to secure heavy weapons”. From the attackers? Or their own?

–At 11:11pm the requested drone surveillance arrives over the Mission compound.

____ What was the drone supposed to be doing? Why did they request it? What did they want it to do?

–By 11:30pm all US personnel, except for US Ambassador Stevens who was missing, depart the Mission. The exiting vehicles come under fire.

____ How did they depart? How many vehicles? How many people?

–Over the next roughly 90 minutes, the Annex receives sporadic small arms fire and rocket propelled grenade rounds. The security team returns fire and the attackers disperse at approx 1am.

____ Okay, was the CIA annex being fired on while the “securtiy team” was over a the Mission? If so, who was left behind to defend? How many? Or did the firing resume once the “security team and Mission personell got back?

–At about the same time a team of additional security personnel lands at the Benghazi airport and negotiates for transport into town. Upon learning the Ambassador was missing and that the situation at the Annex had calmed the team focused on locating the Ambassador and tried to obtain information on the security situation at the hospital.

–It’s still pre-dawn when the team at the airport finally manages to secure transportation and an armed escort. Having learned that the Ambassador was almost certainly dead and that the security situation at the hospital was uncertain the team heads to the Annex to assist with the evacuation.

–They arrive with Libyan support at the Annex at 5:15am, just before the mortar rounds begin to hit the Annex. The two security officers were killed when they took direct mortar fire as they engaged the enemy. That attack lasted only 11 minutes before dissipating

___ Okay, these “additional security personell” did they join in the defense of the annex or where they only getting others out? Was it just Doherty and Woods who were providing cover for the evacuation?

–Less than an hour later a heavily-armed Libyan military unit arrived to help evacuate the compound of all US personnel.

___ So it was a Libyan team who eventually evacuated the Annex? What happened during that hour (remember previously they said the mortar attack lasted 11 minutes. what happened in between those times?

DOS briefing ( here- http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2012/10/198791.htm ) establishes Agent in consulate TOC to have immediately started contacting 1. Quick Reaction Security Team at Annex 2. Libyan Authorities 3. Embassy in Tripoli and, 4. WASHINGTON.

We know from other reports that Obama and DOD Panetta were meeting soon after that. Egypt and Middle East already aflame. One thing Obama has shared in the weeks after this is that “no one wants to find out what happened” more than he because the Ambassador was his and the nation's representative. Withe the Middle East aflame on 9-11, Obama and Panetta meeting.... They both want us to believe they knew nothing or even just a little about what was happening in Benghazi? At the best, Obama is guilty of leading his troops from behind. He is trying to abdicate his responsibilities as Commander in Chief while his Sec of Defense is right next to him. At the best, afraid to make a decision to protect his, our representative in Benghazi. If not for fear of making a decision then WHY? At worst, he is guilty of some of the other theories about why he would not make a decision.

This appears to be a CIA cover our ass operation, they did not want any other branch involved. This also could have been tightly Controled by a single person. Who would not want anyone to know what was happening at that annex. So much that they would watch people die instead of helping with the military .

Additional question(s):
Where was Ambassador Stephens when this alleged rescue team was there?
Did they stand down to allow the Rape of A. Stephens?
Why did they leave him there?

It is all BS anyway. No normal person would believe it. Then again there are Democrats!

SEAL Team 6 Loss, Part II

1 party is sent.

That may appeal to the left-wing minimalist policy wonks, but it’s not any kind of a good tactical response, expecting 1 vector of attack to work.

Obama had all kinds of power at his hands, that could have been applied from Italy, from Sicily, and from International Waters.

But the leftist media want your eyes on the CIA birdy.

The “party” from Tripoli were sent to NEGOTIATE a rescue effort, “from the evidence.”
