Wind farms can cause climate change, according to new research, that shows for the first time the new technology is already pushing up temperatures.

Usually at night the air closer to the ground becomes colder when the sun goes down and the earth cools.

But on huge wind farms the motion of the turbines mixes the air higher in the atmosphere that is warmer, pushing up the overall temperature.

Satellite data over a large area in Texas, that is now covered by four of the world's largest wind farms, found that over a decade the local temperature went up by almost 1C as more turbines are built.

This could have long term effects on wildlife living in the immediate areas of larger wind farms.

It could also affect regional weather patterns as warmer areas affect the formation of cloud and even wind speeds.

With the number of windmills they would need to erect, I suspect the change will be far more wide ranging.

Funny how that works innit? A few windmills here and there wouldn't have a huge effect but when we start talking about hundreds of thousands the potential grows proportionally.

We also have to start looking at airflow over the land and water and how it creates localized weather patterns or microclimates. Here in Michigan, nearly all the orchards and large scale vegetable farms are in a strip along the lake Michigan shore for a reason. Its warmest there for the longest period of the year and even more important, air rising over the land causes the rain and snow to fall there in the greatest amounts. The greenies want nearly 4000 windmills right there along the shore and God knows what effect that will have.

I think the size and amount of these turbines(I have seen huge fields of hundreds of these things) have a much greater impact than a few small ones here and there. What is amusing is that they are combating the very thing they are causing. In all seriousness, this could be catastrophic to weather and wildlife. Read the article.

I think this approach to clean energy is in it’s infancy on a large scale. At the rate these turbines/wind farms are going up worldwide, this is definately something that needs to be looked into. Isn’t the whole premise of “clean energy” to STOP global warming. This seems to be causing it.

If the wind turbines are extracting energy from the wind, the air cools.

In a jet engine, the gas flowing through the turbine cools hundreds of degrees in milliseconds.

Even if the rise in temperature is slight, I think that changing the wind/weather patterns is an equally important issue. I really think this article makes sense. Actually, a lot more sense than regulating Carbon. When you have hundreds of these things in the same area there have to be changes in wind speed and direction. That alone could change in weather patterns. If these are all over the world imagine how much of an impact they could have on weather as the global warmists put up more and more of them.

This entire process can easily be simulated using existing software that is presently used to simulate gaseous discharges from elevated stacks a.k.a. “dispersion modeling”.

Of course, Algore may want to modify the math before running the program.
