Two-thirds of jobs go to immigrants during Obama’s four years

"Researchers say legals and illegals are more mobile than natives in America"

Two-thirds of those who have found employment under President Obama are immigrants, both legal and illegal, according to an analysis that suggests immigration has soaked up a large portion of what little job growth there has been over the past three years.

The Center for Immigration Studies is releasing the study Thursday morning, a day ahead of the final Labor Department unemployment report of the campaign season, which is expected to show a sluggish job market more than three years into the economic recovery.

That slow market, combined with the immigration numbers, could explain why Mr. Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney have struggled to find a winning jobs message in some of the country’s hardest-hit postindustrial regions.

“It’s extraordinary that most of the employment growth in the last four years has gone to the foreign-born, but what’s even more extraordinary is the issue has not even come up during a presidential election that is so focused on jobs,” said Steven A. Camarota, the center’s research director, who wrote the report along with demographer Karen Zeigler.

His numbers are stark: Since the first quarter of 2009, the number of immigrants of working age (16 to 65) who are employed has risen 2 million, from 21.2 million to 23.2 million. During the same time, native-born employment has risen just 1 million, to reach 119.9 million.

Fewer immigrants own an anchor like a silly old family home.

Being a good citizen now means...

Don’t plant roots...
Don’t become an active member of a community...
Don’t own a home...
If you do own a home, join four other families to live there...

In these ways you can compete with the most valued portion of our society, the legal and illegal vagabonds recently here from outside our borders.

It’s extraordinary that most of the employment growth in the last four years has gone to the foreign-born,

In addition to people being unable to sell their homes into a market bubble created by Democrats, with the "values" and "skills" taught in American schools, this is hardly surprising.

Moot point. Both parties and their enablers are equally guilty. If you can’t move the plantation to the slaves, move the slaves to the plantation. And don’t give me the BS about “doing the jobs Americans won’t do” line. The unemployment numbers tell all. Those are people who used to have those jobs, but wouldn’t do them for slave wages, and work in horrific conditions. If you condone outsourcing or illegal immigration, you are the equivalent of the modern slave driver, no difference.

I don’t see the problem with LEGAL immigrants finding jobs. Good for them.

23 million U. S. Citizens out of work, and you don’t see a problem with recent immigrants making up the lions share of new hires? Really?

Recent immigrants have not invested their family savings in homes, forming a family, contributing to communities, and doing what it takes to be a good citizen.

They are able to live in much more meager living conditions. They are able to pack their bags and move at the drop of a hat. They are much more willing to work for sub-par wages.

How does a citizen with roots compete with that? Isn’t it the citizen we should be supporting?

If this make sense to you, then welcome to the absolute crash of U. S. living standards.

Indeed, if one looks back to the Great Depression, that’s when the US (led by FDR) instituted some very draconian immigration controls to prop up the labor market that wasn’t making enough jobs. These controls held down our rate of population growth (and were partly responsible for the very high standard of living post-WWII) until that drunken Irishman (but I repeat myself) named Ted Kennedy put through the backbone of the modern no-limits immigration system in 1965.

I have no doubt this study is factual. Additionally, I will say that the illegals, that aren’t working, are on welfare, food stamps and medicaid.

Either way, US citizens are getting hosed by our Govt and illegals.

I have heard the phrase “third world country” quite a bit in the last few days. The only thing I can say to that is....well duh!!!

Slave labor is hard to compete with whether it be in China or within our “sovereign” borders.

NVDave, I was with you until you talked about holding down population growth and the post WW II era. Perhaps you were talking about the population growth prior to the end of the war.

At any rate, I do strongly support a cessation of all immigration for the next 20 to 30 years.

We’ve got some mending to do, or we don’t continue on as a unified nation.

Mass immigration, whether legal or illegal, equals labor market manipulation.

Compared to how many people (refugees from WWII-torn areas) wanted to get in, the immigration policies pre-1965 did hold down our population growth compared to what it would have been if we had pre-1934 or post-1965 policies in place.

Our labor markets will be compromised for decades to come. Most of out economic growth post-1984 or so has come as a result of the expansion of debt and leverage levels, not from organic economic production and economic multipliers. The dot-com boom was the one true, organic upside we’ve had since 1984, and that wasn’t enough to turn the tide of events.

If people want to see where we’re going, look to Europe for consequences of our fiscal and immigration policies, and Japan for the fruits of our banking policies.

Obama USDA met 30 times with Mexican gov’t to promote food-stamp use among Mexican immigrants

That’s more than Obama has met with his own intelligence officials in the last few years.

But hey, keep working and clipping coupons- millions of anchor babies depend on us.

IMO, illegal immigration is the number one issue facing the nation today. When upwards of 10% of your populace are citizens of another nation, you’ve got a serious problem.

And many of these people are hostile to U. S. Citizens.

legal immigration should be put on hold, too.

either than or end the practice of “birthright citizenship”

Our welfare state cannot support them all.

I do think that legal immigration should be put on hold for twenty to thirty years.

I would allow exceptions for talented people that would be a clear asset to the United States.

That’s about it.

We need to assimilate those already here. And we also need to force self-repatriation for those who did not follow the laws of our nation to begin with.
