Yesterday Mitt Romney turned a previously scheduled campaign event in Ohio into a hurricane relief event. Romney asked supporters to bring canned goods and other supplies to help storm victims recover on the East Coast. He only spoke for ten minutes at the event and quickly jumped in to help load supplies. His campaign bus has been accepting hurricane relief donations since Monday in Northern Virginia. Sounds like a great idea right? Not according to MSNBC.
Reporters and anchors at the far-left TV outlet were appalled at Romney's efforts to give back to the community, after all, his charity and generosity doesn't fit with their "Romney is an evil rich guy who doesn't care about regular people" narrative.

Are these people sick? And yes you heard them correctly, they are actually criticizing Romney for trying to help people.
With all due respect to the Red Cross, they do amazing work, but they are also a large bureaucracy set up like the federal government. Andrea Mitchell made the point in the first video that Romney was collecting things "the Red Cross doesn't need" and that the Red Cross wants blood and money (which by the way, people like Mitt Romney are capable of donating large sums of money to organizations like the Red Cross because they are personally wealthy, something MSNBC has continually demonized).

Stop that! No personal insults. And once more. Are you reading this thread??? I did not say that. I was quoting the Red Cross. They said they did not want canned goods. THEY said they have no one to sort them...no place to store them and no way to transport them to the flooded areas. If you want to criticize that statement, criticize the Red Cross. Not me. Why in the world would you speak to someone like that?
I have read the same thing. The Red Cross is not asking for canned goods. However, I bet a lot of other relief agencies are. There are lots of church groups involved.

Yesterday I attended an event in La Crosse, Wisc. where Ryan visited Republican Party HQs for about 20 minutes. He only spoke to thank Republican Party volunteers for their efforts and the people who came for donating food, and he also recommended sending money to the Red Cross. He only posed for pictures with the party faithful and never once mentioned politics. How’s that for being an uncaring, greedy, evil, capitalist b....d? (smirk)
tx, that is one reason I don’t give to the Red Cross anymore. My money now goes to the Salvation Army where it will do more good.

That sounds like what all my uncles said about WW2. If the SA showed up, they gave food and help for free. If the Red Cross showed up, they charged. None of my uncles EVER gave a penny to the Red Cross, but they all donated to the Salvation Army.

I would wager that the Mormon Church already has an amazing network set up for this type of situation. I may not agree with the tenents of their religion, but I do know that they believe deeply in preparedness and charitable help!
That’s the whole thing in a nutshell.
You have God’s way of doing things,
and you have the world’s (humanist) way of doing things.
The two are in conflict and are irreconcilable.
You’ll hear leftists utter things like
“private charitable giving interferes with the duty of government”.
So, you seem to be saying Romney was fully aware of the needs of the Red Cross but deliberately ignored them in order to make political points. That would also logically mean that he was hoping no one else was aware of the Red Cross’s “no canned goods” policy which would make him both dumb and evil at the same time.
It might also, however, be possible that he had some plan to get the donated goods where they are needed using the considerable resources at his disposal.
Give to a more worthy charity the Salvation Army.

A Korean War Vet told me that when the Red Cross passed out coffee and donuts over there in the cold and horrible conditions, the NCO’s were lucky to get coffee, the commissioned officers got the donuts.
I used to volunteer for the Red Cross, and was awarded a fine pin to ‘wear on my lapel’. I threw the pin away and find other organizations to give to.
You keep missing the point, DS. The Red Cross isn’t the only organization that distributes aid. It’s only been repeated a dozen times to you.
I have very little respect or use for the Red Cross.As mentioned above,it is composed of too many HIGH-PAID administrators living well off the good intentions of the ordinary people who donate.A number of people in my area were very upset about the Red Cross following tornados.
I DON’T donate to either the Red Cross or United Way.
And a word of warning:the marketing/solicitation experts have infiltrated every charitable organization.If you donate by traceable means.that is,by check or credit card,they will thn spend money mailing you requests for more money.Even the Salvation Army did that to my irritation.
I f you want to give,give anonymously as I do now by dropping cash into the red kettle;or give to/through your local church.
Another reason I dislike the Red Cross and similar groups is their “political correctness”.
