Hurricane Sandy brought out the worst yesterday in some sleazy New Yorkers, who looted stores and homes across the city.

Some posed as Con Ed workers to dupe their victims.

Police arrested more than a dozen looters in the Rockaways and Coney Island, which had been evacuated, and stood guard outside ravaged stores at the South Street Seaport.

Don’t kid yourself, you’ve got the exact same nature...”

...to survive? Yes! To steal a pair of sneakers, a case of Heineken, cartons of cigs or a handful of Timex watches...NO! I would not and do not have that “nature inside me”.

On a lighter note I saw a line of campers towed by trucks heading up I-81 that was around 3 miles long.. I guess lots of people will at least have a place to sleep.

No, Rudy's gone. He was a "Christian", yet he had no problem shacking up with a girlfriend when his wife left him or ignoring any other number of your religious laws. Bloomberg is not a Christian, he was born Jewish. You have a problem with that? Bloomberg is no good because "he's not Christian"?

Bloomberg is a piece of excrement because of his "I know better than anyone" megalomaniac attitude and subsequent policies. Not because "he's not Christian".

He is a horrific example of a Jew, just the absolute worst disgrace to all Jews in his doing the opposite of Jewish law or precept in 99% of cases. Not because "he's not Christian".

Does someone have to be a Christian to be an effective leader? Tell that to Bibi, you self-righteous jerk.

If the military rank-and-file had any questions about Obama being an enemy combatant, those doubts should be wiped out by now.

How about your nephews? They support that opinion? If so, are they going to act on it, after all it is their duty?

Yes, pretty much like that, except those guys have refined their system to the point where they never have to worry about getting prosecuted.

“NO! I would not and do not have that “nature inside me”.”

Yes, you do. We all do. You’ve just been able to keep it at bay, so far. However, if you deny that it is there, then you are only increasing the chances that it will break free some day and wreak havoc. Denial of reality doesn’t change reality, it just makes it more likely that reality will bite you in the behind.

“Some of these crews are even dressing as police and fire.”

Given that NYC cops were found to be looting and abusing people’s rights when they were deployed to Katrina it’s not a big stretch to consider that the ‘crews’ in question really are police and fire staff.

An exciting lie, but a stupid one.

If you are trying to say that everyone is imperfect and sinful, I agree.
However, the nature of each person's sinfulness is different. You may have to fight the tendencies of wanting to steal shoes, while someone else may have temptations in another areas. We are not all tempted by exactly the same things.

Oh good - someone found this already to put on FR so I don’t have to!

I love the way this story is written, and how the police referred to these criminals: “SCUMBAGS”.

LOVE IT! About time they’re called officially what they are.

And I agree with posters - looters/rioters should be shot.

‘”Early voting” was permitted, and nobody said a word. So now, Obama will simply issue an executive order permitting “late voting’

When did this Banana Republic “early voting” crud start? I hate this, and will not vote early (even with Sandy) on principle. What about all the people who will be dead by Nov 6? They shouldn’t vote. It ain’t right. Too any shenanigans. If they could vote on 1 day 200 years ago without any of our advantages, they can vote 1 day now. Geesh.

Must be loaded soft (little set back) or modified (iesing glass?) to not break up in firing/travel to target. Salt crystals are relatively soft.

Eyes at 20” and the looter can’t see what to steal; ever again.

Nothing vexes me so much as a thief above ground.....BUT burial space is in short supply.

It’s not salt, it’s rock salt - large chunks.

Agreed. I had been shot at but the farmers always missed me in their corn fields and apple orchards, I just lucked out.
It gives one a real bad rash.
