Top AFRICOM Commander General Carter Ham Was Never Ordered to Save US Men in Benghazi (Video)
Gateway Pundit ^ | October 28, 2012 | Jim Hoft

1:43 interview of Rep. Jason Chaffetz on Fox News by Shannon Breem Sunday Oct 28, 2012.

AFRICOM leader General Carter Ham was never given the order to secure the consulate in Benghazi. This is what the general told Rep. Jason Chaffetz after the 9-11 Benghazi terror attack.

That means only Barack Obama or Defense Secretary Panetta, the two men above the AFRICOM commander, never ordered an operation to secure the consulate. This was despite the many pleas for assistance coming from the consulate and annex.

The Obama Administration replaced General Carter Ham with General David Rodriguez at AFRICOM on October 18.

The US had troops in Sigonella, Italy – about an hour away on 9-11.

The attack went on for at least four hours but US forces were never called in.

Oct 9, 2012 – Chaffetz said he spent Saturday [Oct 6, 2012) in Tripoli with General Carter Ham, head of the U.S. Africa Command

Oct 7, 2012 - GretaWire: Check out the email I just received from FNC’s Chad Pergram

Urgent: Fox Exclusive: Chaffetz returns from Libya after fact-find mission ahead of Wednesday hearing on 9-11 attacks

Per Pergram-Capitol Hill

I’ve just spoken with Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT, pronounced CHAY-fetz), chair of the House Oversight subcommittee looking into the 9-11 attacks in Libya. That panel holds a hearing on the subject Wednesday.

Chaffetz travelled with Gen. Carter Ham, the head of Africom (The US Command over Africa) in Tripoli. Had hoped to go to Benghazi but it is too dangerous.

Chaffetz says it was clear those on the ground there were asking for more support to secure the building in Beghaniz It was denied. They asked for more personnel. They asked for more personnel and were denied.

Chaffetz:

“Rather than letting security dictate security, they let politics dictate security.”

Chaffetz also tells an interesting story about the US Embassy in Tripoli.

He says the south end of the complex backs up to a private home and a yard. They had put a ladder up against this wall. The person who lived there would put up a ladder and dump his garbage in on the property of the embassy. He says there was no barbed wire.

He says the US let them dump garbage there just because they wanted to be a good neighbor.

Chaffetz says the idea that protests were spurred by the video is dubious at best.

Of COURSE O ordered them to stand down. That’s why he couldn’t look the parent of a dead hero in the eyes. O is just a disgusting liar that is incapable of taking responsibilities for his action. ANYONE that votes for him is a complete fool.

How many miles away is sigonella airbase? An hour away, by what? Boat, plane, helicopter...

Were their carriers off Libya that were even closer?

Allegedly, there are standing orders that exist for the case no commanding officer is available. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been indicated that Obama had standing orders in place.

This blog speculates that Stevens was part of a covert effort to get former Libyan weapons into the hands of Syrian “rebels”. But, that Iran or Russia didn’t want that to happen, and so formed an “nation state” attack on the facility.

We didn’t send a rescue because we were afraid of a full scale war with Iran. I think that is what he is saying.

Either that or we feared that the forces were planning to ambush the rescue forces and create a Black Hawk Down repeat. So we did nothing instead to cover up the covert arms smuggling operation and prevent an embarrassing episode for Obama right before the election.

Not sure if this is credible.

“.....The American special operators, Woods, Doherty and at least two others were part of the Global Response Staff, a CIA element, based at the CIA annex and were protecting CIA operators who were part of a mission to track and repurchase arms in Benghazi that had proliferated in the wake of Muammar Qaddafi’s fall. Part of their mission was to find the more than 20,000 missing MANPADS, or shoulder-held missiles capable of bringing down a commercial aircraft. According to a source on the ground at the time of the attack, the team inside the CIA annex had captured three Libyan attackers and was forced to hand them over to the Libyans. U.S. officials do not know what happened to those three attackers and whether they were released by the Libyan forces.......”

Putin and Iran want Zero to be reelected. They would never
try such a risky stunt before the election. They know he’d be more ‘flexible’
after the election (he’d bend over and compromise with them on
Syria, nukes and missile defense).

Obama's September 11 Phone Call ".........................While Americans were under assault in Benghazi, the president found time for a non-urgent, politically useful, hour-long call to Prime Minister Netanyahu. And his senior national staff had to find time to arrange the call, brief the president for the call, monitor it, and provide an immediate read-out to the media. I suspect Prime Minister Netanyahu, of all people, would have understood the need to postpone or shorten the phone call if he were told that Americans were under attack as the president chatted. But for President Obama, a politically useful telephone call—and the ability to have his aides rush out and tell the media about that phone call—came first.

So here are a few more questions for the White House: While President Obama was on the phone for an hour, did his national security advisor Tom Donilon or any other aide interrupt the call or slip him a piece of paper to inform him about what was happening in Benghazi? Or was President Obama out of the loop for at least an hour as events unfolded and decisions were made? On the other hand, national security staff were obviously with the president during and immediately after the phone call—otherwise how could they have put out their statement right away? Surely his aides told the president about what was happening in Benghazi. Was there then no discussion of what was or what wasn't being done to help, pursuant to the president's first directive that everything possible be done?"

“........................By Sept. 16, the national intelligence director changed his assessment. Mr. Clapper abandoned the “spontaneous” explanation and told the White House that the attack was a planned terrorist operation, a U.S. intelligence official told The Times.

No longer in Libya at the time of the attack, Mr. Nordstrom and Col. Wood later tried to assess the bureaucratic battle they fought to retain more security assets in Benghazi.

“We were fighting a losing battle,” Col. Wood said. “We couldn’t even keep what we had. We were not even allowed to keep what we had.”

Mr. Nordstrom recalled a phone call with a regional director asking for 12 additional agents.

“His response to that was, ‘You’re asking for the sun, moon and the stars,’” the security officer said. “And my response to him, ‘You know what makes [this] the most frustrating about this assignment? It’s not the hardships. It’s not the gunfire. It’s not the threats. It’s dealing and fighting against the people, programs and personnel who are supposed to be supporting me.’

“And I ended it by saying, ‘For me, the Taliban is on the inside of the building,” Mr. Nordstrom said.”

This is what happens when a country is poorly managed regarding its finances as well as politics, it becomes weak, also in the in the eyes of its opponents and allows them to step in and dictate their terms. Probably some one who had the ability and was willing to back up its threat told us “Don’t go there unless there will be hell to pay” So like an obedient dog with its tail between his legs we turned a one-eighty and let these bastards kill our ambassador.

O. may not be the brightest but I believe he is not down right stupid either and probably after he and Panetta just about chewed off their fingernails concluded that this threat was no bluff and decided to let them have our ambassador. On the other hand, had O. given it a GO his re-election would have been almost guarantied. So for a narcissist like him, something or some one left a lasting impression and made a believer out of him and a fool of our once great nation. These are the results of unbridled socialism coming home to roost and unless some drastic changes are implemented this was just a taste of what is to come.
Well this is just my take

Libyan witnesses recount organized Benghazi attack "....There was no sign of a spontaneous protest against an American-made movie denigrating Islam's Prophet Muhammad. But a lawyer passing by the scene said he saw the militants gathering around 20 youths from nearby to chant against the film. Within an hour or so, the assault began, guns blazing as the militants blasted into the compound....."

The current crop of amateurs in charge of our nation are the 50-year product of our bereft culture....too many cartoons, too much Ritalin, a stunted education, emasculated males and a lack of morals....the result: a generation of incompetents who can’t manage their way out of a wet paper bag.

The indecisive excuse for not responding immediately to the Benghazi raid is propaganda. Government has contingency plans for everything. All they had to do was execute the procedure correctly. Leon Peonetta’s excuse of “not being able to access the threat” is painfully wrong.
