Pat Caddell is also heartsick by what he himself describes as the disgraceful behavior of the President of the United States, the Vice President, and the Secretary of State. He is outraged as a patriot and I think he is shaken as he comes to the understanding that these people are not patriots. I do not know if he takes the next step which is to come to the understanding that it they despise the nationstate we call United States of America, and do not wish to see it prosper because they regard it as a moral threat to the advancement of their ideology.

He puts the nation's defense in the realm of patriotism beyond party politics and these people simply do not share his values.

Exactly correct. He is honest enough with himself, and reality to face the destruction of his worldview. Not many people can do it, which is why so many on the left still support Obama.
