Obama yesterday in an interview said he gave three clear directives the minute he found out about Benghazi.

1. make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to.

2. we're going to investigate exactly what happened so that it doesn't happen again

3.find out who did this so we can bring them to justice

Mr. President, you told the U. N. the cause was a video on YouTube. Now you’re telling us this other thing.

Were you lying then, or are you lying now?

Or both times?

“When did he find out about Benghazi?”

That is the critical question. When did he get his very first piece of information. Either the information was woefully late (doubrful) or he is woefully lieing.

I heard Hillary use that ‘fog of war’ phrase too, and if as state in this sequence of events video a “crowd” fired upon our Personnel, Libya has to be seen as the enemy too, unless they bring this “crowd” to justice too.

At 2:10 you see the escape vehicle(armored car) gets fired on from a ‘crowd’, 2 grenades were thrown under it, then hit with machine gun fire from 2 feet away;

Thanks. So he said the same thing in the debate.

I didn't pick up on it then, because we didn't know at the time of the debate that there was an order to stand down that night, nor that there had been an order given not to take out the painted mortar target.

It would have meant more at the time of the debate if we had the details like we do now. He can't have it both ways. If he gave the order to help in every way possible, someone defied him. Why isn't he outraged? Where was he when the decision was made? Asleep?

If he was the one who gave the order to stand down, then he lied to cover up what really happened and is directly responsible for the deaths of at least two of the four. They were killed much later at the annex.

Here's Petraeus’s statement:

Yes, Even Condi Rice was letting them get away with that Fog of War. I was so glad, Romney didn't pick her.

Fog of War made sense in WWII and other wars where they couldn't watch in real time.

They knew in Washington from the the initial phone call according to his statement:

Obama “Now with respect to Libya, as I indicated in the last debate, when we received that phone call, I immediately made sure that, number one, that we did everything we could to secure those Americans who were still in harm’s way;”

Initial phone call (which would have been approx 9:40pm at the consulate);

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2012/10/198791.htm

SENIOR STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL:“...I neglected to mention from the top that that agent from the top of this incident, or the very beginning of this incident, has been on the phone. He had called the quick reaction security team, he had called the Libyan authorities, he had called the Embassy in Tripoli, and he had called Washington.”

Good. You’re geting the timeline down. When the President would have first known about the attack.

How they can say away with saying the “fog of war”, when they had up to minute real-time information from video, drones, phones, emails, etc. is beyond me.

How about the “fog of the Obama admin” instead? We can't even find out who gave the orders in the situation room and what orders to help or to stand down were given.

I think Obama went to bed and he left someone else in charge to give the orders.

The entire DC “establishment”, including the media, has got their necks on the block on this cluster****, and they know it.

All that ANY of ‘em are doing right now is hiding out behind the gross lying that’s come from the WH in hopes that the blowback won’t work down the chain to them.

Why would you call for an investigation of an event the moment you heard about it?

As I understand it, the CIA cannot give orders to the military to do anything, their mission is the collection of foreign intelligence.

In some situations, the on site military can give orders to engage in foreign defensive operations, i.e. a ship at sea under attack, a military compound overseas under attack. The embassy in this situation is kind of different, it is US soil and had no on site military presence.

So to me, the NCA is the responsible agency here which should have ordered help. The NCA is His Excellency through the Sec of Def....sounds like Panetta is falling on the sword for his excellency who was probably too involved in honing his basketball game or running for office to worry about our embassy.

If ‘Washington’ knew at the 9:40 phone call, they had approximately a one hour window for reinforcement aircraft from Italy.

“As I understand it, the CIA cannot give orders to the military to do anything, their mission is the collection of foreign intelligence.”

I'm sure you are right that the CIA cannot order the military to do anything, but evidently there were CIA operatives at the annex who were begging to go to the aid of the ambassador and the others. I would think only the CIA could order these operatives to stand down. That the military could not order them to stand down. It would seem only the President could over rule the CIA head.

So we have two things happening here - the military orders and the CIA orders. I doubt either can over rule the other. So that leaves the President unless he designated some one to handle this incident, while he went to bed.

Yes, unfortunately, the media isn’t getting this timeline, they are too focused on emails and not the initial call for help, and this may go no farther then Free Republic as far as we know.

one other point;

Obama didn’t say “we did everything we could to secure those Americans who were still in harm’s way” in the last (2nd) debate as he stated in the Lynn (3rd) debate;

Transcript of Second Presidential Debate
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/16/transcript-second-presidential-debate/

OBAMA: “So as soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team and I gave them three instructions.

Number one, beef up our security and procedures, not just in Libya, but at every embassy and consulate in the region.

Number two, investigate exactly what happened, regardless of where the facts lead us, to make sure folks are held accountable and it doesn’t happen again.

And number three, we are going to find out who did this and we’re going to hunt them down, because one of the things that I’ve said throughout my presidency is when folks mess with Americans, we go after them.”

The urgent request from the CIA to go help were ‘when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m.’

EXCLUSIVE: CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/26/cia-operators-were-denied-request-for-help-during-benghazi-attack-sources-say/#ixzz2AVbdH1VP

an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. consulate and subsequent attack several hours later on the annex itself was denied by the CIA chain of command — who also told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.
