GOES east

Well it's sort of gone east but the current projection has it making landfall around New Jersey.

Uh...I think GOES is referring to the name of the satellite.

Pretty much “ready”. Just wish there wasnt so much hype on the tv about it.

I absolutely understand. A couple of gentle suggestions--

If you are feeling thoroughly prepared, take another walk around the property with a keen eye for potential wind-blown missiles.

Visit your neighbors to assist with preparations

Cook up some good meals for the next 24 hours. Eat hot food for each meal expecting you may not have electricity to heat the next meal.

#Sandy is one of the LARGEST hurricanes on record....with the lowest barometric pressure. It has dropped to 951mb.

This is a pretty extensive weather site:

My fear is that it hits Philadelphia, Dems scream minority disenfranchisement, and polls are held open for several more days. Dems then execute MASSIVE vote fraud, every urbanite voting multiple times. Philly achieving %200 vote participation. And Pennsylvania is the difference in the election.

One additional important point : make sure your car isn’t parked near a tree which could fall or shed branches on it.

For the original questioner I would agree. However, I live in an arid area and there are few trees (but many windstorms). We have had straight-line windspeeds in excess of double of what Sandy is likely to bring to most areas but of course never this kind of rain.

My prayers and best wishes to those in the path including the immediately preceding posters.

Looking at your graphic, the three walls shown (in my garage) have the broken windows. The front has 2 metal doors. I was thinking since there are three openings, the wind wouldn’t have much chance to go upward, it would pass through horizontally.

Hopefully I can get someone by tomorrow to board them up.

Actually, I was referring to the posters near the end of the “Hurricane Sandy Is Being Compared To The Worst Hurricane Ever To Hit New England” thread who feel their houses are seriously endangered.
