French Prime Minister: I want Obama to win

French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault has broken with diplomatic protocol by openly expressing his hope that Barack Obama wins the upcoming US presidential election.

"If I was an American citizen I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Obama," he told a radio interviewer on Wednesday.

While it is hardly surprising that Ayrault, a Socialist, would support the Democrat candidate in a US election, prudence normally restricts politicians from making such remarks given the possibility they will end up having to deal with their Republican rivals.

Ayrault is not however the first French minister to offer public support for Obama in his neck-and-neck battle with Republican Mitt Romney.

On Tuesday, Bernard Cazeneuve, the European affairs minister, said: "As far as I'm concerned, I totally support it (Obama's re-election) and I would be astonished if the government had any other wish."

President François Hollande was less explicit when he was asked who he would support during a visit to New York at the end of last month, restricting himself to a rhetorical: "Who would you think?"

If Romney wins I hope his administration totally ignores French Prime Minister Ayrault. Should he decide to visit Washington in order to get his picture taken next Romney in the Oval Office, I hope he is told in no uncertain terms to get back on his plane and return to France. He shouldn’t be given the time of day by the State Department or any official of a Romney Administration.

Pretty good speech, for a country that died at Dien Bien Phu!

Well, given how your idiot President has raised the highest tax bracket to 75% and wants to ban homework, I don’t think we need to take any advice from you, bozo.

Incomprehensible, mind-boggling and just plain stupid. They would even surrender any trace of sensibility to the frog legs they consume. They commit collective suicide. Rabid, raving lunatics all. Who can fathom such idiocy?

Ayrault, the French PM is overstepping the bounds of his office, but is completely in sync with the French people. 75% of them would vote for Barry if they could.
Trying to understand this, I’ve come up with a few possibilities.
One is the almost irration love if the French for American blacks (that would sort of disqualify Barry, but I digress)
Another reason might be that there is no real equivalent of American conservatism in France. They have a “right wing” but it is not based o God given individual liberty and freedom, but on the top down model if the Imperial State.
There has been a tremendous rise in anti-Americanism in France, with America viewed through the lens of Alabama 1963, guns, and what they perceive as religious fanaticism.
Almost every article mentions Romney’s religion. They are also pro-abortion 80-90%.
The other reason is that Ayrault, and his socialist party and master, Hollande are mega a-holes.

Misery loves company, I suppose. Quelle surpris! The French prefer the United States prostrate, impoverished and impotent. Just wait until the U.S. leaves NATO (or as they say in France, OTAN) and Germans go nuclear to stave off the Russians.
