Gloves and shoelaces won't be the only pink items on the gridiron this week as the NFL continues its recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Referees working Sunday's game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets at MetLife Stadium will call penalties by throwing pink flags. The move to ditch yellow and go pink was the brainchild of a fifth-grader, who suggested the idea in a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Ah, the annual “Skinning of the Pink Panther” in the NFL....
Are the players going to wear pink bloomers, too?
Yes, let’s just do everything the kids suggest. Jeeze.
Save second base
Just out of curiosity, does any of this actually help fight breast cancer?
This garbage is silly and out of control. You tune in to the NFL and they want to remind you to think only about women’s breasts. Sorta sick in a way.
So, one quarter of the NFL season is played in pink, is that right. I can’t decide which is more idiotic, the wearing of pink in the NFL, or having every swinging d!@# wear the number 42 on Jackie Robinson day in the big leagues.
I think they should try topless cheerleaders...that would get attention.
All this crap makes it a lot easier to ignore sports...
Exactly! Instead of buying pink cleats, jerseys, etc. they could just do a few PSAs and spend the money on actual research.
They don't have to remind me - I ususally don't forget to think about women's breasts.
I prefer the Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleaders uniforms. :-)
Don’t forget, anybody . . . soccer is gay.
maybe they can release Pink Pigeons too..
The goofs over at NASCAR are so into politcal correctness these days that they’ve start painting stock cars pink. I can’t even concentrate on the race anymore. All I do is think about women’s breasts every time a pink car goes by.
