Tierney’s wife injured in car crash

The wife of U.S. Rep. John Tierney, whose tax fraud conviction has dogged her husband’s re-election bid, was treated at Beverly Hospital this morning after being injured in a car crash, the Herald has learned.

The congressman was spotted by a Herald reporter leaving the hospital with his wife, Patrice, just after noon. She was walking haltingly and appeared to be in pain as she emerged from the emergency room of Beverly Hospital on the arm of her husband.

Tierney, who was assisting his wife into the front seat of their car, held up a hand when approached by a reporter as he climbed into the back seat.

“Just let us get home, please,” he said in a barely audible voice.

Tierney’s campaign manager, Matt Robison, confirmed that the 61-year-old wife of the congressman was involved in an accident but had no details.

“She got hit by another car,” Robison said.

The congressman’s wife pled guilty in October 2010 to helping her brother, Robert Eremian, file false tax returns and admitted being “willfully blind” to his attempt to hide the fact that the source of his income was illegal gambling.

John Tierney has denied any knowledge of his brother-in-law’s activities but the case has dominated his re-election campaign.

Recent polls show Tierney is trailing his Republican challenger, former state Rep. Richard Tisei, who has raised questions about whether the congressman is telling the truth about his knowledge of the gambling ring and his wife’s involvement.

Tisei via facebook: “Our thoughts are with Mrs. Tierney, who was apparently injured in a car accident this morning. We hope that she’s alright.”

Howie Carr list ping. Not a good day for Johnny Pockets. It started with the Globe endorsing Tisei (if a bit on the tepid side)

Tierney’s party affiliation isn’t mentioned right off the bat, ergo he is a Democrat. No need to read til that last paragraph to learn that.

Bummer about the wife being hurt though, tax cheat or not.

Note our behavior/response: had this been “the wife of incumbent Republican senator John Tierney was injured in a car crash” the moonbats would have responded with “good, she deserves it”. (I should know because when I mentioned that Laura Ingraham had been diagnosed with breast cancer some years ago, there were replies on a radio messageboard along the lines of “good, she deserves it”. Seriously.)

Today pigs fly as the Boston Globe endorsed Tierney’s republican opponent.

Yes...Salem News so far has no article on the accident though it’s mentioned in a tweet on their page...and a tweet by their Nelson Benton reads “Voters will make final call, but today’s Globe endorsement of GOP’s Tisei over Tierney in 6th District doesn’t bode well for incumbent”

You almost wonder if Patrice was driving and John says to her, “This is disgraceful. The Globe endorsed Tisei.”

Patrice: “They WHAT!?!?”

John: “Honey, watch out—look out..”

CRASH!

I don’t know...distracted from her driving...?

the folks on Morrissey Blvd say
"US Representative John F. Tierney’s wife, Patrice, was treated and released from a hospital after her car was rear-ended this morning, the Tierney campaign said this morning. “She sustained some injuries and was treated at Beverly Hospital before being released around mid-day. It appears that having her seat belt on prevented her injuries from being far more serious,” campaign manager Matt Robison said in a statement."

Salem News has it finally. They weren’t together—he was at an event in Gloucester. He was to meet with S. News editorial board this afternoon but that was cancelled; his schedule will be re-arranged to accomodate him caring for his wife, at home:

>>>
Tierney’s vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle sometime between 8 and 9 a.m., according to Tierney campaign manager Matt Robison. It is unclear where the accident occurred.

“It was a pretty significant collision,” Robison said in an interview.

Because of the extent of the damage, first responders were worried that the congressman’s wife’s injuries were more extensive, he said.

Medics were “worried about what kind of shape she was in. It appeared at first her injuries could be significant,” Robison said. “Thankfully, after checking her out, it appears that wearing her seat belt saved her from a lot of damage.”

Robison said an off-duty firefighter driving in a vehicle in front of Patrice Tierney saw the collision. pulled over and called 911.

No mention of who caused the accident, ergo illegal alien.
