I am someone who is not falling for the phony “protect the environment and protect the children” slogans that mask an attack on capitalism and our economy, giving the government more and more control over our lives.

People who want to have government control everything and “take care of them” should move to Cuba, China, Venezuela, or N Korea or could stay here and vote for Obama.

Reading some of the posts of people, claiming to be conservatives, clamoring for more government control in our lives boggles my mind.

Here's the rub, there are “exceptions” to everything and this supposed Food Safety Act picks winners and losers, just like Obama does.

Are we now worried about what we buy in the Grocery Store, yet we wolf down a Big Mac without giving it a second thought? Since I do not spend my days tripping over dead bodies clutching opened packages of food containing GMO’s (Genetically Altered Organisms), I have to wonder why this is a burning issue. Then I remember, I live in Commiefornia and it all becomes crystal clear.

If people really want this intrusion, I have to think that they believe there are Companies out there with a business model that includes killing their own customers for fun, profit and maximized returns to their Shareholders. That's if their Shareholders haven't already succumbed.

Why don’t you educate yourself and listen to both sides, instead of buying into the leftist propaganda?

I already poste the link, but here it is again:

Are you a believer in global warming too? Why don’t we just shut down all our factories, ban all cars, kill all livestock because the claim is that they all contribute to global warming?

In the meantime China will merrily pollute the planet, while the US will go back to the stone ages.

You are an anti American.

To know if someone is putting something into the food supply that may harm you or your family is part of the ‘transparency’ that goes along with a free society.

You sound like a consumate socialist who approved of the BSE contaminated meat produced by SOCIALIST policies in the UK that flew against any common sense farmers held decades before.

You see socialist producers want profit at any cost to the consumer and look towards the government to ensure the free individual citizens have no right or say in the marketplace.

And by the way, contamintated food supply helps the socialist to establish control and get rid of the excess postulation they established as a goal in UN Agenda 21 signed by George Herbert Walker Bush in 1991.

You sound like one of the Republican party corrupters that enable the anti sovereigns and socialists in this country.

I don’t trust either side on the issue. That is why I want the ingredients DISCLOSED on the ingredients list.

Whether to ban GMO is a separate issue.

http://www.noprop37.com/facts/

Proposition 37 would ban the sale of tens of thousands of perfectly-safe, common grocery products only in California unless they are specially repackaged, relabeled or made with higher cost ingredients. Prop 37 is a deceptive, deeply flawed food labeling scheme that would add more government bureaucracy and taxpayer costs, create new frivolous lawsuits, and increase food costs by billions — without providing any health or safety benefits. That’s why Prop 37 is opposed by a broad coalition of family farmers, scientists, doctors, business, labor, taxpayers and consumers.

PROP 37 CONFLICTS WITH SCIENCE

Biotechnology, also called genetic engineering (GE), has been used for nearly two decades to grow varieties of corn, soybeans and other crops that resist diseases and insects and require fewer pesticides. Thousands of common foods are made with ingredients from biotech crops. Prop 37 bans these perfectly safe foods only in California unless they’re specially relabeled or remade with higher cost ingredients.

PROP 37 MEANS MORE BUREAUCRACY AND TAXPAYER COSTS

Prop 37 forces state bureaucrats to administer its complex requirements by monitoring tens of thousands of food labels at tens of thousands of grocery stores, retail outlets, farms and food companies. In fact, it sets no limit on how many millions would be spent on bureaucracy, red tape and lawsuits. It’s a blank check… paid by taxpayers.

PROP 37 AUTHORIZES SHAKEDOWN LAWSUITS

Prop 37 was written by a trial lawyer to benefit trial lawyers. Its primary sponsor is a trial lawyer whose firm and organization have made more than $3 million suing under the terms of another proposition he helped write. Prop 37 creates a whole new class of “headhunter lawsuits,” allowing lawyers to sue family farmers and grocers without any proof of harm. It subjects farmers, grocers and food companies to huge litigation costs and lawyer payouts.

PROP 37 MEANS HIGHER FOOD COSTS

Prop 37 forces farmers and food companies to implement costly new labeling, packaging, distribution, recordkeeping and other bureaucratic operations that will cost billions of dollars to implement. Or, companies will be forced to switch to higher-priced, non-GE ingredients, like organics, in order to sell food in California. Economic studies show this would increase food costs for the average family by hundreds of dollars per year – a hidden food tax that would especially hurt seniors and low-income families who can least afford it.

Your gullibility of swallowing the leftist propaganda hook-line-and-sinker, as they say, is beyond belief.

That’s globalist BS.

The last thing we need is carte blanche for a transnational (meaning they have NO allegiance to any country) corporations to add any thing, drug, poison whatever to our food supply with absolutely no oversight.

But those who hate America and our independence love this proposition.

How about getting rid of the ethanol mandate instead of truth in labeling?

You would prefer that all our food came from China, I’m sure, because country of origin labeling falls foul of the globalist agenda as well.

Nice Alinsky move there, but it outed you.

This is the latest effort of the Nanny Left to tell us what to eat. It requires foods that contain any ingredients resulting from biotechnology advances to carry the scary warning: “GENETICALLY ENGINEERED.” There is not a shred of evidence that biotechnology is the least bit dangerous - it often reduces the need for pesticides. To avoid branding their products with the Scarlet Warning, food processors would have to prove that every scrap and crumb in their fare is devoid of biotechnology or face crushing lawsuits. Grocery prices high enough yet?
