Germany needs more cameras in public places and more police patrolling the streets, the interior minister said in an interview on Sunday. Attacks were becoming more brutal, despite a decline in general street crime.

Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that the country needed more security cameras in public places. …

I think the European principal should be to adopt a policy of an “integration buffer”, that further immigration should cease until current immigrants are “satisfactorily” integrated into society.

This integration would be determined by objective benchmarks, such as physical integration as opposed to ghettos, average level of education and employment compared to other citizens, and *especially* “per capita criminal incarceration”.

The latter meaning that there is a percentage of Germans, for example, who have committed criminal acts, and been convicted and incarcerated for them. When the level of per capita incarceration of a given immigrant group has dropped to that of Germans, that would be one factor in permitting more of that group into the country.

Germany's Merkel is right -- multiculturalism has failed

October 18, 2010
By David Frum, CNN Contributor

-snip-

In Berlin, young men of immigrant stock are three times as likely to commit a crime as young men of German background, reports Germany's state broadcaster, Deutsche Welle. In a September interview, Chancellor Merkel endorsed claims that religious young men of Muslim origin were more likely to commit acts of violence than other young Germans.

Any other nation and I'd be a lot more willing to let statements like this ride. While it does make sense to me, the German record isn't all that great when it comes to generalities.

It seems as if Western governments are allowing social outcasts to enter their nations to cause severe problems, and are then using the excuse of regaining control to turn our nations into police states of varying degrees.

Not at all happy about it.

We're in a hole with problematic immigrants. I'd just like our leaders to quit digging! Stop immigration for ten to thirty years (with exceptions allowed), whatever it takes. Let's get back on track then open the doors again slightly.

I do think immigration can be good, but there is absolutely not discernment applied these days.

The German Chancellor should be applauded for speaking the truth about who is committing the violent crime in her country.

I wish we would hear such truth-telling from our officials.

Bringing up Germany’s history of generations ago doesn’t help either them or us.

I would be a lot more sympathetic to the Chancellor if Europe wasn’t still sending big money to the Palestinians and blaming Israel for no peace with the West Bank and Gaza.

Anti-Semitism is rising in Europe again. Europe is the entity that allowed itself to be flooded. Now it’s blaming the inevitable on the people it allowed in. Europe should be blaming one entity for what’s going on on it’s soil these days.

Itself!

Do I agree with the Chancellor? Absolutely.

So cry me a river Chancellor. These are the folks you are miffed that Israel can’t get along with. Well guess what? Nobody can!

J H C, these folks are obtuse.
