McCain voters defecting to Obama are older white males
Reuters ^ | October 21, 2012 | By Gabriel Debenedetti

Roughly 5 percent of respondents in Reuters/Ipsos polls said they chose the Republican contender in 2008 and will switch to Obama in 2012.

Who are these defectors?

The McCain-to-Obama switchers are 55 percent male, and 34 percent of them are 55 or older. (Overall, Obama trails Romney 34 percent to 52 percent among white men over 50.) About 72 percent of them are white.

They are largely from the East Coast; nearly 4 in 10 live in the mid- or South Atlantic. Nearly 3 in 10 finished their education after high school, and nearly 2 in 10 have a bachelor's degree.

Two-thirds say they are absolutely going to vote, choosing "10" on a 1-10 scale for likelihood of voting.

Even though 38 percent of all voters believe the economy is the election's most prominent issue, just one-third of the McCain defectors agree. Character matters more.

I don’t know what Reuters is drinking but this older McCain voter is NOT voting for Obama!

This is as unbelievable as anything else we’ve seen this year. I don’t regret my vote for that SOB loser in 2008. But I will not vote for another RINO.

Once in a lifetime is enough for me!

So supposedly 5% of McCain voters are switching to Obama...buried at the bottom of this story is the fact that double that, 10% are switching from Obama to Romney (according to this BS Reuters poll- its probably more like 15% switching to Romney)

LOL!

Oh wait, they were serious?

I suspect that if there are any older white guys "switching" to Obama, free handouts to seniors likely has more to do with it than anything else.

Much more troublesome than any of their conclusions is the fact they had a heavy sample of people from THE SOUTH ATLANTIC ~ which is located near Argentina, Brazil, South Africa and Angola.

Do they vote here too?

They’ll never mention MORE Obama voters are switching to Romney.

Just don’t accuse Reuters of partisan bias and printing a hit piece!

This could also be people so fed up with the system that they are deliberately lying about this to try to show how messed up the system/polls are. I have considered telling this very lie if called by a pollster.

LOL! They meant south of the Mason-Dixie Line.

That’s why this is BS. Not a single Southern state will go for O next month. Maybe in another universe.

They must be channeling “The Twilight Zone” over at Reuters!

Nonsense. I Trust al-Reuters about as much as I trust AP or MSNBC. And that’s not at all! More media propaganda.

They’ll vote for their Medicare and Social Security.

Not surprising with the geriatric set - but they’re also socially conservative!

Another BS story planted by the Obama camp to lure undecided voters over to the dark side ( no pun intended )

A Jeff Waltrip, age 56 retired electrician, and a Jeffrey Baker, 58 retired are the two main sources of this push poll by Reuters. Both give very incongruent reasons for having voted for McCain in the first place, then completely inane reasons for voting for Obama this time.

What in the hell kind of electrician retires at age 56? One that works for a Union perhaps? One that worked for the US Government perhaps?

The other one, age 58 is also retired, likely from a Government job, and checking out his name online has lived in NH, MA and ME his whole life. If he ever voted for McCain, it would have been a miracle.

Reuters is just trying to dilute the appearance of so so many white people deserting Obama.
