PHOENIX (Reuters) - A federal judge on Friday blocked Arizona from applying a new law that bars Planned Parenthood's health clinics from receiving money through the state because the organization also performs abortions.

U.S. District Court Judge Neil Wake granted the temporary injunction to Planned Parenthood, which had sued Arizona to block the law, which was signed by Republican Governor Jan Brewer in May but whose implementation has been on hold. "It's not the result we would have hoped but it's not a ruling on the merits," Arizona Solicitor General David Cole told Reuters after the ruling, noting that a hearing on the merits of the case would take place in early December.

Vote them out or impeach them. The states can spend their money however they want, unless planned parenthood has some freakin long term contract to always receive funding or something.

Someone please explain what constitutional mandate there is for a state to sponsor planned parenthood (a private organization) to do anything?

This is yet more judicial tyranny.

If all these judges want to make law, let them run for the office...they seen to think if they don’t like some part of a law, they can legally change. But in ways that are not in accordance to the constitution.....blak. The government has 3 CO-EQUAL branches of government...they need to get off their idea they are superior to legislator and the people.

“It’s not the result we would have hoped...” Arizona Solicitor General David Cole told Reuters

This is the other half of the problem, giving deference to these clowns for rulings this blatant. Here’s how I would have responded: “The fact that this lawsuit wasn’t thrown out immediately with Planned Parenthood forced to pay restitution was bad enough. But given this ruling, I’d like to remind the judge that we have a well-run prison system in this state, and the best way for him to stay out of it would be to never enter Arizona again.” Something like that.
