CNN ADMITS THAT CROWLEY’S DISREGARD OF THE RULES WAS INTENDED TO HELP OBAMA
Powerline ^ | 10/18/2012 | PAUL MIRENGOFF

Posted on 10/18/2012 7:46:01 PM PDT by tobyhill

If authentic, CNN’s memo explaining why Candy Crowley permitted President Obama to speak four minutes more than Mitt Romney during Tuesday’s presidential debate is devastating to that network:

On why Obama got more time to speak, it should be noted that Candy and her commission producers tried to keep it even but that Obama went on longer largely because he speaks more slowly. We’re going to do a word count to see whether, as in Denver, Romney actually got more words in even if he talked for a shorter period of time.

One of Crowley’s main jobs as moderator was to enforce the rules that were established for the debate. The rules established time limits, not word limits.

When I debated in high school and college, we had to stop speaking when our time ran out. It didn’t matter how many words we had gotten in (I wish it did when I debated John in practice rounds). When, as I lawyer, I argued cases before Courts of Appeals, I had to sit down when my time was up. It didn’t matter whether my opponent had uttered more words in his or her alloted time.

She gave Obama more time than she gave Romney.
She interrupted Romney more often than she interrupted Obama.
She pulled out a transcript from the Rose Garden on hand when Obama asked for the transcript.
And when Romney brought up the very ugly topic of Fast & Furious, all Obama had to say was "Candy?" and as if on cue she immediately changed the topic.

Yeah, there might be collusion.

CNN needs to just admit they are the Communist News Network. The old East Germany propaganda stations did the exact same thing except they admitted they were proud Communist whereas CNN tries to fool the people into thinking they aren't.

When one was asked a question the other was allowed a rebuttal. A few times though Candy allowed Obama to rebut Romney`s rebuttal. She never allowed Romney to do the same.

.... So the fix is in eh?

I think the next debate should be fair and balanced. The next one should be pulled from the alphabets and given to Fox News. I mean ... why should the Liberal Nets be given exclusive monopoly and rites on Presidential Debates that determine the fate of the country and thus the world anyways?

Well, now that these 'debates' have been exposed as a sham and tool for manipulation by the left-wing media, it is up to the Republican Party and others to take action.

I have this all figured out.

First, announce that no RNC candidates will participate in any similar shenanigans in 2016. No more town halls or other crap. Candidates will be given equal time in future debates, and timing will be strictly enforced.

How to pick moderators: Let both parties submit 10 names and then throw all of the names into the trashcan. Cut a deal with the NFL to hire NFL officials to moderate each debate, equipped with three things:

1. A list of questions and rules

2. A stopwatch

3. An audio/video control box

Think about it. That is ALL you need in a moderator. When a candidates time is up or if he/she breaks the rules, the audience sees this for the duration of that persons time:

If you're not old enough to know what that is, it will be a teachable moment.

And yet Gov. Romney is so head-and-shoulders above the de facto president that he still won the debate. Mr. Obama, who has never had a real job and mainly was a community organizer (aka rabblerouser) went up against an exemplary CEO who has saved dozens of major corporations. Only with the help of 97% of the mainstream media was the failure of his policies hidden from many low-information voters for so long. Once those voters got a look at Gov. Romney vs. Mr. Obama on the same stage it was OBVIOUS who was the superior candidate! $100 million dollars of negative advertising mostly flushed down the drain!!

Under FCC laws, it is a federal crime to “transmit” false and/or deceptive information. Of course, under the criminal watch of the pig Holder, none of this will ever be investigated and/or prosecuted.

Criminals protecting criminals. Obama will go and THANKS TO GOD for that. Washington will see a record house-cleaning.

It was worth several million dollars to CNN to please Obama...

CNN has a multi-million dollar appeal languishing in Obama’s stacked NLRB (NLRB Case 05-CA-031828).
the administrative-law judge (an Obama donor) already ruled against CNN in 2009 .
Their appeal has since set before the 4 member NLRB board: 3 of them Obama appointees.

I think a seriously entertaining debate structure would be to eliminate the moderator and eliminate questions.

Instead, each candidate would get specific periods of time. The first candidate would get 1 minute. Then they would alternate 3-minute time periods, and could say whatever they want. And at the end, the 2nd person would get 1 minute, the first 30 seconds, and the second 30 seconds (to limit the damage of the last person getting to throw out a bunch of stuff that doesn’t get answered).

The microphones would only be on during their periods. That would control the time. 3 minutes up, your mike cuts off. If you stop early, the other person still doesn’t get to start until their time starts.

Each candidate would either answer something the opponent said, or introduce a new topic, or raise questions — and the opponent could ignore those questions. People would decide for themselves how “presidential” each candidate was, and whether they seemed serious about the issues that were important.

If structure is needed, there could be “subjects” for each half-hour period, and the subject would be put across the top of the screen, so people would see the subject while the candidates spoke. The candidates could ignore the subject, and the viewers could decide if that was a good or bad decision.

Who would you prefer? A candidate who goes through unfair opposition to win the presidency, or won who deals well with having plenty of little helpers to hold his hand. The fact that Romney and his wife bother letting people who hate their guts host debates or interviews tells me one thing: he really means business with whatever he is going to do as president. Do you think the Halls of Congress are going to instantly comply with whatever a president Romney wants? not a chance! The fact that he bothers doing as well as he does when his opponents like Obama try and rig the game to favor him and the ultra-liberals gives a pretty good idea of the kind of person Romney is. I would rather have a guy who goes into rigged debates than a guy who gives up or relies on finding a room full of fans like Obama does. Just my two cents.

The WI senate debate tonight was like that I guess.

I didn’t watch but it there was a moderator there to ask the question. Each was given two minutes to answer personally and then a 6 minute “free for all” followed. Moderator only to speak when it was time to move to next question.

Will be curious to hear reviews of the style.

That’s the million dollar question everybody’s asking. We can’t get an answer from anyone, even the Republican candidates who are on the receiving end of the blatant bias. I wonder why? What do they know, what’s being held over their heads, or do they think they get some sympathy factor from the brazeness of the bias? I would find that one hard to believe, people want to see a winner, and it doesn’t help when they can’t get their message across as they planned. It only helped President Reagan when he firmly but amiably said “I paid for this microphone”.
