L.A. mayor wants ID cards for immigrants
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | October 16, 2012

Los Angeles - ..City officials and other supporters of the city ID card say it's a practical attempt to balance federal immigration laws with making residents less vulnerable to crime and more accountable to their community. An official ID would make it easier for many residents to open bank accounts, obtain city services and identify themselves to law enforcement officials, they argue.

.."An ID that recognizes residents as Angelenos with access to all city agencies would be a great benefit for all of us," [Alexandra Suh] said. "Things like the ability to check out a library book, to access health services, to enroll our kids in school, why should this depend on immigration status?"..

(A handful of cities, including San Francisco and Oakland, issue identification cards to anyone who can prove residency, regardless of immigration status. Villaraigosa said it’s time that Los Angeles - home to an estimated 4.3 million immigrants - joined them)

Awesome, they will all flock to these “ santuary cities”

Waiting for the law of unintended consequences to come to fruition.

If the Illegal Aliens were already legal...they would have ID already...

The city of LA giving “immigrants” (Illegal Aliens) IDs means that there are Illegals

Haha! It doesn’t matter a bit, anyway. They can already vote without them.

I have always been curious as to where exactly the State Franchise Tax Board stands on this issue. Every last person receiving one of these ID cards is ADMITTING to Illegally living in the US and Since Illegal Aliens cannot collect Welfare they by default have been WORKING ILLEGALLY and probably with forged documents. So why doesn’t the Franchise Tax Board immediately open Criminal Tax Evasion and Money Laundering cases against every last person and their parents for their Admission to these facts, Asset Forfeiture, seized bank accounts, and let’s not forget the Employers Illegally hiring these people, that my friends could be a Big Pot Of CASH in FINES and SEIZURES. after all this is exactly what happens to AMERICAN CITIZENS when they do the EXACT SAME THING with regards to WORK AND INCOME.

why do people have to show ID cards to open bank accounts”””

I moved in early 2005 from N Calif to Nevada.

I attempted to open a new bank account.

I had to provide first:

An embossed certified Birth Certificate from the county where I was born—NO COPY ALLOWED.

An original Social Security Card—NO COPY ALLOWED.

2 forms of other ID- I used 2 credit cards from 2 differnt banks.

One other ID with my name on it- I used my Arabian Horse Registry Owner’s card, which dates back to the mid-’80’s.

I was told tht this was all due to the Patriot Act, which was passed after 9-11. I was 65 at the time & had had bank accounts since I was 17.

How come Los Angeles & San Francisco are ignoring this requirement from the Patriot Act?

Isn’t this a violation of Federal law?

Is Mitt going to put a stop to this with a NEW Justice Department? New Treasury Dept?

Whatever happen to Bank Of America.I remember they were opening bank accounts for illegals, does anybody know is this still ongoing in 2012 ? I do not know about the rest of you, I hardly ever have huge amounts of money in the bank or on my person. I note here..Betty Hung, of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, said an ID would bring psychological as well as practical benefits to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants who live in the shadows because they’re fearful of deportation.

In the shadows illegals are staging protests, laying down in the streets, wearing t-shirts and carrying signs undocumented and unafraid. Then there was that bus tour with big banners on each of the bus in big bold letters undocumented and unafraid. Even self proclaiming at rallies stepping up to the mic and boardcasting to the world , I am undocumented and unafraid. Remember in NC.Illegal immigrant activist Benita Veliz was given a prime-time speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday night, where she championed President Barack Obama’s recent decision to stop enforcing certain aspects of immigration law.Veliz, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, gave a short address to the convention audience, and then introduced Telemundo talk-show host Cristina Saralegui.

In her speech, Veliz claimed to be “from San Antonio, Texas,” saying that she was “like so many Americans.”

“My name is Benita Veliz and I’m from San Antonio, Texas. Like so many Americans, of all races and backgrounds, I was brought here as a child,” Veliz said. “I’ve been here ever since.”

However, her profile on the activist website dreamactivist.org reveals that she came to the United States from Mexico at age 8 on a tourist visa and that her family then illegally overstayed.

Right now the illegals have it very good. In LA stop for driving without license, no problem, the helpful LA PD will I think it is , LA PD will wait with you up to 45 minutes to locate a licensed driver. If no driver shows up, the car is impounded and can be subect for release the very next day.No more worrying about waiting 30 days. Very odd team Obama has nothing to say to LA about a practical attempts to balance federal immigration laws . From all the lawsuits Obama filed,Obama always said it’s the feds jobs to pass immigration laws and places like AZ were hauled into court striking down their attempts to control illegal immigration in the state. I guess friends of Obama need not worry about those pesty laws for which is stated its the feds job.. Wonder what Calif shall look like in 5 years ?
