Honestly, has anyone here seen Mitt have a bad performance anywhere? He is ready for this, believe me.

All I can say is that as good as Newt is, he couldn’t lay a glove on Mitt. Mitt was very, very good in the primaries. I say that even though Mitt wasn’t my guy.

The town hall always favors democrats because the audience is stacked with people who want something from the federal government and the democrat can always answer every question with a proposal for more spending and a bigger government program.

You have the equivalent of a kindergarten classroom with one “adult” promising free candy, and the other saying, “no more free candy, it’s bad for you”.

The Obama campaign is in control of this debate... They got to screen the audience for their supporters. They even got to hand pick the moderator for it.

If Obama brings up Bain Capital: "Let's say the stimulus was like 'Obama Capital' investing taxpayer money in select companies. Mr. President, Bain had an 85% success rate with private capital. Obama Capital has nothing but losers."

Well, duh. Of course, it will because it’ll have a stacked audience.

Also this is in New York State. Enemy territory to start with.

PONYTAILED LOSER: And forgive the notes here but I’m shy on camera.

The focus of my work as a domestic mediator is meeting the needs of the children that I work with, by way of their parents, and not the wants of their parents. And I ask the three of you, how can we, as symbolically the children of the future president, expect the two of you, the three of you to meet our needs, the needs in housing and in crime and you name it, as opposed to the wants of your political spin doctors and your political parties?

CAROLE SIMPSON: So your question is?

PONYTAILED LOSER: Can we focus on the issues and not the personalities and the mud? I think there’s a need, if we could take a poll here with the folks from Gallup perhaps, I think there’s a real need here to focus at this point on the needs.

PONYTAILED LOSER: Could we cross our hearts? It sounds silly here but could we make a commitment? You know, we’re not under oath at this point but could you make a commitment to the citizens of the US to meet our needs, and we have many, and not yours again? I repeat that. It’s a real need, I think, that we all have.

Oh, dear GOD, the ponytail guy from 1992 in Richmond.

Is that when Bush 41 looked at his watch (not that I would've blamed him)?

The only thing that would help Obama is if he got a brain. Whether it’s standing behind a podium, or taking questions at a town hall meeting, the guy’s a rambling moron. Frankly, I think the town hall format makes it easier for him to make gaffes, and get off-topic. He can’t help himself when it comes to making long, rambling comments, and it’s usually during this type of format that he messes up. He loves hearing his voice, and thinks he has to embellish his responses during informal settings to impress people. I think he’s going to make a fool of himself again.

Rush made that claim today on his show, but I do not recall if those events coincided.

But for me, this moment was the absolute nadir of American politics in my lifetime (and I'm 60).

I'd like to see a town hall debate held in a random American town with random questioners, with the candidates no having any idea where they are, who they are meeting, or what kind of questions they are going to get. That would be entertainment. :)

I suspect I'll be sloshed out of my wits in about 12 minutes.

That’s right, I can’t imagine a townhall debate where the questioners ask why won’t the gummint get out of my life! Such people would never attend a townhall meeting, would they?! This is the core of the conservatives’ problem with power, and I’m not the first idiot to note it. We want less power by the government, a paradox without an easy solution.

All those “undecided voters” will be Democratic operatives who have been coached about the questions to ask. I will not waste my time watching that farce.
