Democrats cry foul over voter fraud billboards in Midwestern cities

Democratic lawmakers and activists nationwide are angry about a crop of billboard signs posted in early October in the Cleveland and Milwaukee areas that warn of stiff penalties for voter fraud.

The roughly 33 signs warn that "Voter Fraud is a Felony" punishable by up to 3-1/2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, wording flanked by a large picture of a judge's gavel.

The signs will be up through the November 6 election day in the Cleveland and Milwaukee areas and were paid for by an anonymous "Family Foundation," according to a spokesman for Clear Channel Outdoor, which owns the billboards and placed the signs.

Legal and labor activists and community members said the signs deliberately target and seek to intimidate blacks and Hispanics, other minorities and the poor - as well as ex-convicts - groups key to Democrats' campaign voter drives ahead of the vote.

"The billboards create a chilling effect," said Marcia Johnson-Blanco, a co-director at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, an advocacy group that asked Clear Channel Outdoor to remove the signs.

"It certainly leads to an atmosphere where some will think twice about voting," Johnson-Blanco said, adding Clear Channel Outdoor has not responded to the group's request.

Some of the signs were placed in white, although relatively poor, neighborhoods of Cleveland and Lorain, roughly 30 miles (48km) west.

I've always found this strange. Why would any legal voter be put off by these signs? Its clear that Democrats really do think that reminding people of the law might disuade some of their voters. Its pathethic. I think at every polling place we should have a nice clear sign pointing out voting requirements as well as an id check. There is no excuse for not wanting to do basic verfication and not wanting to disuade illegal voters.

Sir, please cease rational thought and begin chanting racist! as political correctness apparently demands.

So much of what I despise about the treasonous left, right up there in a hyphenated nutshell.

"It certainly leads to an atmosphere where some will think twice about voting,"

No, it will stop people from thinking about voting twice.

"It certainly leads to an atmosphere where some will think twice about voting,"

Why on earth would someone think twice about voting, unless they were voting twice?

It might make voters who are being used as puppets not want to comply with such schemes.

Yeah, the rats are always courting somethingelse-Americans because somethingelse-Americans are clearly not regular Americans. Is it any wonder they join Ubama and the rats in wanting to "fundamentally change" the nation they all hate? These billboards are a great idea, and I hope the idea spreads across the country, especially in the concentrated Democrat parasite nests ("cities").

"The billboards create a chilling effect,"

Only to someone engaging in voter fraud.

It's not going to make anyone think twice about voting. It's going to discourage them from thinking about voting twice.

Hopefully a chilling effect to those who would participate in voter fraud. No honest person need worry about these signs.

Great play on words and absolutely right. Signs should go up at every polling place, on tv, and internet. Let them know what they're risking for their favorite Democrat.
