Biden contradicts State Department on Benghazi security

Vice President Joe Biden claimed that the administration wasn't aware of requests for more security in Libya before the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi during Thursday night's debate, contradicting two State Department officials and the former head of diplomatic security in Libya.

"We weren't told they wanted more security. We did not know they wanted more security there," Biden said.

In fact, two security officials who worked for the State Department in Libya at the time testified Thursday that they repeatedly requested more security and two State Department officials admitted they had denied those requests.

Yes. VP debates usually have little effect but the Benghazi is essentially the kenyan making the case through Biden. The kenyan owns Biden’s words here unless he repudiates them and that will make it worse. It would raise a lot of voting eyebrows if Obama throws Biden under that bus.

Absolutely. On one hand, the intelligence community doesn’t know it’s ass from a hole in the ground regarding Libya, but on the other hand, Biden will trusts them to tell us when Iran gets nukes with split-second precision.

Joe always says what he means...or so he says. So which does he mean?

Plugs lied about not voting for Iraq and Afghanistan too. He voted for both wars. What a slime ball.

Yeah, I wish Paul would’ve zinged him on that point - but he didn’t. I think he let several zingers go by.

Right. Blowhard Biden is a babbling contradiction. I looked during the debate to fact check that idiot Biden and well again, he's still an idiot:

"...According to academic experts in the West, Iran needs around 220 to 250 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20 percent to make one atomic bomb. The rate of its uranium enrichment to this level is now between 12 and 15 kilograms a month.

But although Iran has already produced about 190 kilograms of 20-percent enriched uranium, almost 100 kilograms of that quantity has been diverted to scientific use. Every time Iran enriched more than 130 kilograms to 20 percent, it diverted 15 or 20 kilograms to scientific use.

If Iran still had 190 kilograms, it would now be very close to the "red line" Netanyahu noted in his address - 90 percent of the progress toward the ability to manufacture one nuclear bomb. "

Our friendly neighborhood liberal moderator wasn’t gonna let Ryan get away with replying to that big a of a lie. There is some serious ammo for some great ads in swing states though. Biden married the bammer to some pretty big lies that he is going to have to deal with.

Ponder this: Biden gets his reports from the CIA, not the State Dept. Hence, Biden was correct: the WH received no requests for an increase in CIA security staff.

The State Dept. did receive security requests for an increase in Marines, and those requests were denied.

If the above two speculations are correct, then there is a disconnect between the WH and State.

Soon Obama and Hilly will try to shift the blame for this disconnect on the other. Well, Hilly COULD stall it out until after Obama is re-elected - - - - . A deal is a deal!

In the end, all foreign policy is run by the WH under the direction of the Dept of State.. one would assume with the input of other agencies that are charged with providing intelligence and counsel as how to best effect foreign policy.

I reckun the old adage that The Buck Stops Here no longer applies if the expected scenario plays out,, i.e., let investigations go on and deny knowledge of the key factors that led up to another failure in a long line of failures.

“Mr. Vice President, regarding the terrorist attack that left four Americans dead in Libya. I’m sure you’ve seen all the pictures and heard the reports about the sadistic things that were done by the terrorists.

We’ve already established that your Administration, despite warnings and pleas for help, significantly reduced security around the Libyan consulate.

And here you are in front of the whole nation, claiming that your administration didn’t know they wanted more security? Even though two state department officials just testified under oath to the contrary?

And you’re laughing about it? Really?

And we’ve also established that your Administration went to great lengths to cover up your incompetence, spreading a made-up story about a non-existent video.

So please tell the American people, Mr. Vice President, what can the people take away from this episode that will make them feel good about electing you to a second term?”
