Black Faith Leaders Unhappy With Obama on Gay Marriage Mobilize Black Voters
Christian Post ^ | 10/10/2012 | Lillian Kwon

A group of black faith leaders are saying "absolutely no" to the redefinition of marriage. And their conviction has compelled them to launch a campaign aimed at mobilizing 25 percent of African-American voters who backed Obama to vote their biblical values.

For this election, the choice is clear as President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have endorsed same-sex marriage, Dr. Day Gardner, co-founder of the "God Said" campaign indicated to The Christian Post.

"This is not really a matter of whether you're Republican or Democrat. If you're a believer in Jesus Christ then you have to say all that matters no matter what you think or feel about anything, the most important thing is what God says and God said that marriage is between one man and one woman."

When asked how the God Said nonprofit was formed, Gardner replied, "I think that it was actually started for us by the current administration which wanted to change the definition of marriage from one man, one woman to other. "We really had to stand up and speak loudly for God's Word."

President Obama announced in May in that he believes same-sex couples "should be able to get married," a reversal from his position during the 2008 campaign, when he said he supported civil unions for gay couples but believed marriage is only for a man and a woman.

Also, in September, the Democratic National Convention adopted language supporting same-sex marriage in its party platform, the first time a major party did so. "The black community is among the most religious in America and we are offended that President Obama has announced his support of same-sex marriage, that the NAACP has blindly supported the secular views of the Democratic Party, and that their national platform plainly supports same-sex marriage," said Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani of RagingElephants.org, and co-founder of GodSaid.org, in a statement.

The God Said organization is now working to target voters in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Florida through advertising and to meet with thousands of pastors in order to remind voters about the biblical stance on marriage.

Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and black outreach director of the pro-life Priests for Life, also co-founded God Said. She commented, "We fully intend to shift 25 percent of the black vote from the 2008 election by charging every voter to examine each candidate and vote for the one that supports their core belief in natural marriage."

In 2008, Obama won 95 percent of the black vote. Gardner told CP that this year there are many African Americans across the country who are saying "wait a minute, absolutely not, redefining marriage is wrong."

"We (African Americans) are culturally a religious body of people. I think that for the most part, we understand what it says as far as where God stands on these very important issues. We felt it was necessary to speak out what God said," she remarked.

Gardner, who also serves as president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, believes marriage is one of the biggest issues in this year's election.

"This is a defining time for us," she stressed. "To say either we stand on the principles of God or we don't. That's the bottom line. If you're a believer then you believe everything. You can't just choose to believe what you want to believe."

God Said has enlisted the support of some two dozen black faith leaders. Along with King, God Said is being backed by Pastor Stephen Broden of Dallas, Texas; the Rev. Walter Hoye, II; Dr. Johnny Hunter; the Rev. Ceasar I. LeFlore III; the Rev. Dr. La Verne Tolbert; and Dr. William Owens, among others.

Owens is the founder of The Coalition of African-American Pastors and has been placing pressure on Obama ever since his announcement supporting same-sex marriage.

"More than anything, this is an issue of biblical principles and President Obama is carrying our nation down a dangerous road. Many African Americans were once proud of our president but now many are ashamed of his actions," Owens commented to CP earlier this year.

Michelle Obama wants black males to quit marrying white women with blond hair. She wants black males to marry other black males.

And who are you trying to kid? He will get about that again.

I just don't believe it will make any difference when they get in the voting booth. If it would they would never vote Democratic in the first place. The Dims have been pretty open and out front with where they stand on this issue for about 22 years now. I can't believe Obummer has really surprised anyone with this.

Before long the only Ø supporters left will be white-guilt liberal female schoolteachers.

Is it possible that is the only complaint they have with him?

God’s Word also says thou shalt not kill - yet they have set by and voted for those who support abortion. I do believe that many of them will vote for zero anyway - because the color of their skin overrides their common sense and faith.

Kevin DuJan of Hillbuzz confirmed there is a movement like this in Chicago. The point of this movement is not to get blacks to vote Romney but to get 25% to NOT VOTE AT ALL, as a protest movement against Obama’s policies. Say they are able to convince only 5% to stay home, this will still hurt in a close election and in the swing states. Obama needs all the votes he can get, but some black Christians are ready to stay true to their faith and not vote for him.

"...wait a minute, absolutely not, redefining marriage is wrong."

But screwing the taxpayer is OK, and that will carry the day.

The Kenyan must go.

Sounds familiar.
Obama haters saying they’ll stay home rather than voting for a Mormon.

“And who are you trying to kid? He will get about that again.”

Don’t count on it; they’re in bad shape (like the rest of us). Inflation & unemployment don’t have affirmative action policies.

“If it would they would never vote Democratic in the first place.”

They voted Dem because they got the freebies; those have dried up lately. Some will vote against Obama for financial reasons, and if they’re ever cornered about it they’ll use the gay thing as their reason.

I live near the Newark Welfare Reservation in NJ, and there is no enthusiasm left there for Obama; things have only gotten worse over the past four years, as funding dries up (resulting in mass layoffs of police, fire, and teachers). They’ll never love Romney, but they’ve given up hope on Obama; the “gay marriage” issue signaled to many blacks that he was a white liberal rather than a black radical.

Great youtube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqunfO6CofA featuring E. W. Jackson, President of S.T.A.N.D. calling for mass exodus now of Blacks, Jews, Hispanics, etc. from the Democratic party. Perhaps with many of these ministers beginning to speak out some of these people will be reached.

Probably, but a lot less of them are going to come out to the polls this time around. Also, there were quite a few Black families on Chick Fil-A day.

Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan.
Democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act.
Democrats fought the amendment that freed the slaves.
Democrats instituted gun control laws to disarm blacks.
Democrats commissioned the so-called “negro project” (today it is called “Planned Parenthood”) to control the black population.
Democrats kept a Ku Klux Klansman in the Senate for 50 years (Sen. Byrd)
Democrats keep as many blacks dependent upon the government as possible by feeding them breadcrumbs (welfare checks, foodstamps, WIC, etc.) while discouraging them from becoming independent and self reliant.

Democrats: The Real Racists, the Real Enemy of the Black Community.

To those who “know” or “feel” Blacks will vote 95% for Obama again: There is not a single poll (save for the ridiculous 94/0 poll) that shows Obama above 90 with Blacks. That alone is enough to kill him. Actually most polls agree it is at about 88% and anyone who thinks the turn out will be the same is fooling himself. the truth is NEVER in history have Black ministers EVER told their people to stay home and not vote. Those who “feel” to the contrary do just that; but “feelings” don't trump facts.
