Obama, Romney, Other: Who Should Christians Vote for in the 2012 Election?
Providential Perspective - The Teaching Journal of The Providence Foundation ^ | September 2012 | Stephen McDowell

America is like a train going rapidly toward a cliff. The election of 2012 may determine if we fly off the precipice, or slow down enough to get the train turned around.

(snip)

So then, who should we vote for this November?

In regards to the upcoming presidential election, I have heard some Christians say they will not vote for Barack Obama since he clearly supports and promotes issues contrary to the Bible, like abortion and homosexual marriage. But, they say, they cannot vote for Mitt Romney because he is a Mormon, and they point out the unbiblical doctrines of Mormonism. Their choice then will be to vote for a third party candidate, write in a name,or not vote at all. Should this be the choice of Biblical thinking Christians?

It is very important whom we choose to govern us. When the righteous rule, the people will rejoice, but when the wicked govern they will groan (Prov. 29:2). Our nation’s welfare and stability—our continuance (or recovery) as a nation of liberty, justice, and prosperity—will be greatly affected by whom we choose to lead us.

To elect Godly leaders we need to know the qualities of a Godly leader, and here, as in all of life, the Bible provides a standard. In choosing those who govern, we must compare their qualifications to those that the Bible says are of most importance.

(snip)

As we shall see, Obama is also anti-life, supporting and promoting abortion consistently throughout his public life, is against the Biblical family, recently saying he supports same-sex marriage, and promotes public immorality. The conclusion is that, while a professing Christian, Obama shows little fruit of true Christian faith.

(snip)

Regarding his actions, Romney is pro-life and upholds the Biblical family, so in these two important matters, unlike Obama, he embraces the ideals of the Christian faith. Romney has also not shown hostility toward Christianity as has Obama.

(snip)

Under Obama’s fiscal and moral leadership, the train is heading toward the cliff at 100 miles per hour. In general, those who have led the nation in recent generations, both Democrats and Republicans, have been going the wrong way on the track headed toward the cliff. Some have slowed the train but what is needed is to turn the train around. There are those currently serving in government who want to do this, and have tried, but we need more servant leaders who adhere to the Biblical qualifications of Godly officials before this is possible.

Since slowing the train down will give us more time to prepare new leaders, Romney seems the best option at this time. In contrast to Obama, he also supports life and upholding the Biblical definition of marriage. Romney certainly does not meet all of the Biblical qualifications for Godly officials, but he comes closer to the standard than Obama. We cannot afford to continue down the wrong track at 100 miles per hour because the cliff is coming soon. Slowing the train to 20 miles per hour may give us time to awaken to our civil duties, and restore Godly leadership to the nation.

To those who say they cannot vote for either and will vote “other,” this is in reality a vote for the least Biblical guy. By your tacit consent, you are helping put the worst guy in office. At 100 miles per hour, I fear we cannot last long enough to restore America to its place as the most free, prosperous, virtuous, and just nation the world has ever seen.

You have to make up your mind. Riding the fence is helping no one. Voting for a non-winner is effectively helping Obama into the next term.

There are three things God told us to do; do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. The choice is obvious given these qualifications.

Voting in any manner that does not help to defeat the most anti-Christian president in American history is as unChristian as one can be.

So the whole premise of the thread is silly it's such a no-brainer.

Not voting for anyone is being a non-participant in the gravest fight for this nation in our lifetimes. It is cowardice of the worst form, having others fight for your freedom and the freedom of your children. Voting for some 3rd party in this election is even worse than voting "present".

This is a VERY easy question to answer: Vote for the one who believes that our human rights come to us from our Creator and NOT from the government. Because if they come from our Creator, then government cannot take them away - they are inalienable. These human rights begin with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Now which one believes our rights comes from our Creator?

Also remember the last judgement, how God is going to judge us as seen in the Gospel of Mathew.

Walked out of church last Sunday and saw two cars sitting side by side.

The one on the left had a 0bama/Biden bumper sticker on it.

The one on the right had a bumper sticker that said "Christians Don't Vote for Abortionists".

Coincidence?

We're electing a president, not a preacher, but if it is that important to consider religious affiliation, you have the choice of Jeremiah Wright, or whomever non-smoking, non-drinking, non-cursing, always tithing, has the most fantastic organ on the planet (with accompanying choir), mormon preacher Romney calls 'pastor' .

...”There are three things God told us to do; do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. The choice is obvious given these qualifications”...

Yes! One party clearly has a passion for false Gods and worldly appetites which spring from a tremendously strong
desire to enslave and control others..Envy is the engine which drives that. Are we seeing injustice, lies, picking winners and losers based on idolatry, the provocation of race and class war? Yes, we are. The coarseness of this society and the loss of freedom because of a very sinful and decadent propagandistic media which has become the corrupt engine of national destruction, is unprecendented in the United States.

The other party believes that each individual will account for his/her life time on this earth based on whether he/she has lived life through clamoring desires and envies or whether life has been lived in a way so as not to harm others. They desire that each individual have equal opportunity to choose to develop what God has placed within them and, they want to take care of the truly needy and not to confuse those people with the able-bodied scoundrels who rob our national treasury with the help of politicians who want those votes to solidify a powerful dictatorship in this country. The choice is mind-boggling clear for honest people who want to continue to pull together to solve real human problems and to keep a strong national security.

Has anyone ever seen such a charade in their lifetime as we see through the media arm of national politics? Who are the real people behind the actions of the AP? I would love to see biographies of every AP writer and photographer and to have those presented to the public for the next year. We need to know what kind of people lie behind those unfair and biased ideas and headlines.

In lifetime the choices have become clear for all to see.

Also this is the time for Christians to proclaim the good news of the Gospel of Jesus not only by voting for the right canidiate who will honor the Constitution, but also we must also begin to witness for the Gospel and bring the lost sheep home.

This comparison makes little sense. Obama, the sitting President of the United States, has taken tangible actions to destroy life, to destroy traditional marriage, and to destroy the economy. People are poorer today than they were four years ago, despair dominates.

Then a voter instead should worry and fret about something abstract, like someone's religious background?

Such a comparison does not pass the sanity check, which renders the entire article questionable and full of disconnects.

Christians, non-christians, atheists, Buddhists, Rotarians, Martians, Romulans, Klingons, and everybody else should vote for Romney.

Any Christian with half a brain knows Romney is the only viable choice for saving our nation in the physical realm. Obama has done more to destroy the American Dream intentionally than any other president in U.S. history. I could address and detail this specifically but it would be so long that it would take away the significance of what each damage each action has had, particularly when there are so many impeachable actions that would have been tolerated if the president had been of another race. Obama appears to be anti-American and is a hostile parasite that was implanted in the WH intentionally by radical elements. It is apparent he is trying to reduce America in stature intentionally and most likely under the control of foreign interests or he is really that inept.

Frankly, I wish both Obama and Romney could lose the election. But realistically, they are the two options, sadly. So we must vote wisely...

Which man will stand with Israel and against Iran? Which man do you think GOD will smile upon? Get real people. One man is of satan and hates Israel and is a muslim marxist... the other man belongs to a benign science fiction cult. Romney did have a portrait of CHRIST hanging in the master bedroom of a home that he sold recently sold. Is there a picture of CHRIST left in the White House? Which man is responsible for thousands of deaths of our own brothers and sisters due to his inept ROE? Which man has gutted our security forces protecting our embassies? Which man has turned over Libya ad Egypt to al qaeda and their allies? Which man will sign over our sovereignty to the UN? Which man will unilaterally disarm our Nuclear deterent?

You will stand before GOD one day... and you will have to explain your own actions in this election. Romney is liberal in the typical 20th Century meaning... obama is evil... does evil... believes in evil.
