I live in the biggest swing county in Virginia. That would be fairfax county. It went for Obama in 2008.Its not going to swing back to Romney in 2012. It won’t be close either.

You say that almost like you are proud and happy about it.

Fairfax county is is pretty close to D.C. but still, you have to think that it will be a lot closer in Fairfax county this year and if so, Romney has an excellent chance of carrying the state as most of the other counties should offset the advantage there.

I have rooms reserved for the inauguration. Closest I could get were Dumfries and Stafford. Probably after obama loses more rooms closer will open up. ; )

There are several things to consider. First, there was a 20 point swing toward the pubbies among independents in virginia during the 2010 election. None of that swing will return to Obama. He has certainly given no one reason to change back to him.

The second is that if you drive around fairfax county—romney signs outnumber obama signs two or three to one.

The third thing is that I have been to several different public groups in the county where anti obama comments are typical.

If this is true, it makes the news that I read earlier today, that Romney was moving resources from PA to OH, make more sense.

If Romney does have FL, NC, and VA in his column, then all he needs is OH, and he's almost home free.

On what do you base your proclamation? I used to live in Fairfax County too; but that does not by itself give me the ability to predict that Obamby will again win big in that area. Just sayin’.

I live in fairfax country now. I drive around my own neighborhood where I see the yard signs and go to public events from time to time.

that’s about it.

my sense is that fairfax county will not go for obama a second time.

You’re right, I could be wrong. My sense is totally unscientific.

The only science here is that there was a 20 point swing away from the democrats among independents in the 2010 in Virginia. Independents make up something like 40% of the vote here. Its simply huge. Obama has not given any of them a reason to change their mind again and vote for him a second time.
