Perspective: No Body Count from Watergate but Hundreds Dead from Fast and Furious
breitbart.com ^ | 6 October, 2012 | AWR Hawkins

Watergate is arguably the most sinister crime a Democrat can find to present to the American people when trying to silence a Republican. But it pales in comparison to the lies, illegal gun sales, weapons trafficking, and wholesale slaughter of innocents we've seen as a result of Fast and Furious.

Think about it -- Watergate was a break-in, the goal of which was secure some "dirt" on Democrats to help Richard Nixon during his re-election bid in 1972. Nixon, the man vilified for it, didn't even know about it until after the break-in had already happened, and his crime was covering it up once he learned of it.

He had to resign to avoid being impeached for covering up a break-in in which no one was physically harmed.

Now, jump to 2009 and the launch of operation Fast and Furious under President Barack Obama; 2,500 guns were sold to criminals or to straw purchasers who knowingly intended to pass the guns to criminals. Background checks for the purchasers were done away with and in some cases, the money to buy the guns was supplied at taxpayers' expense.

Because of this, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has relayed tales of individuals on food stamps coming into a gun store in the Phoenix area with brown bags full of money and purchasing hundreds of guns.

The vast majority of these guns were then smuggled across the U.S./Mexico border while the ATF and DOJ looked the other way, ostensibly hoping the guns would be passed to Mexican cartel members so the U.S. government could make arrests.

For the record, we're still waiting on those arrests.

Watergate was a MSM coup that removed a Republican president from office. Many Democrat presidents before and after have done far worse, without a peep from the MSM.

There was no plan to arrest drug cartel higher ups.

The only hint of a plan was in testimony to the house investigating committee by Bill Newell, where he said that once they had lots of traces of guns from Fast and Furious at Mexican crime scenes, then they would turn over to the Mexican government the information that those guns had been illegally purchased at American gun stores.

This is so thin as to be embarrassing. It was already illegal for the drug lords to possess the guns and to murder with them under Mexican law. The fact that they had been illegally purchased in America does nothing but bolster the fraudulent case for more gun control in the United states.

Gunwalker / Murdergate ping.

Hispanic immigrants must come to terms with the fact that the Obama administration actually concocted and implemented a scheme that needed many dead and maimed Mexicans to be successful. A cynical, bizarre political scheme to discredit legal gun availability that actually resulted in the death of many innocent Mexicans. Voters in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and Colorado might want to reconsider their support for such cruel people.

Watergate, the golden age, back when the ends did not justify the means.

Another gun walking scandal via oboma administration.....Gunwalking: Univision Talks About Operation Castaway (Brietbart)

"Operation Fast and Furious was not the only gun walking program. Univision shed some light on another, Operation Castaway, centered around Hugh Crumpler, a 65 year old Vietnam War vet. Guns from this operation were found in Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Colombia."

True, and look at the debacle and coverup over the deaths of Americans in Libya. The old media is proven to be the oily shills of the Democrat party.

I don't know if he was the first one to realize it, but FReeper Travis McGee was saying early on that "no one died from WaterGate".

I am glad Univision is bringing this out. I wonder how long it will be before they are intimidated into dropping the whole thing.

The Fast and Furious operation was meant to be used to justify the regime taking away OUR guns. It backfired. These guns were not even tagged to be traced. Mr. Holder needs to be fired and imprisoned.

Drudge had a headline, saying that Obama had offered the head of Univision’s wife a diplomatic position. As long as the job wasn’t in Benghazi, I don’t imagine that it will take long to shut down Univision’s Fast and Furious investigation.

Not by as much as you think. Nixon was a Republican. Democrats have and are doing much worse. Watergate would never have been mentioned in the MSM if Nixon had been a Democrat.

Nixon was severely criticized for obtaining a single FBI file on a political opponent, but Bill Clinton kept an office in the White House with hundreds of such files—and not the finished, verified FBI files, but its raw files, also loaded with unproven innuendo and rumor. A minor aide was chastised for managing the office he had been hired to manage.

Nixon was severely criticized for requesting that the IRS audit a political opponent who was known to engaged in criminal tax evasion. Both Clinton and Obama regularly directed and directs the IRS to repeatedly, and groundlessly, audit those citizens who are substantial supporters of the Republican party and/or the conservative agenda. Obama also has ordered the Department of Labor to conduct its own, groundless, audits of such political enemies.

It can be said that the entire rationale for the Watergate investigations was based in the terror within the Democrat party that Nixon would launch a major investigation into “Who was responsible for losing the Vietnam War?”, which could have devastated them politically as well as some of them criminally.

The Watergate investigations were to be used as a political bargaining chip against this Vietnam War inquiry. But when Nixon showed no intention to create that inquiry, the Democrats saw it as a superb opportunity to cripple the Republican party, effectively blaming them for the decade long foreign policy debacle.

The typical reporter and media person is certain that he or sehe simply knows best and is willing to tell everyone else how to live;and they are angered if people dismiss their ignorant ,dictatorial op-ed writings.

All you need know is that the members of the media proudly state they vote Democrat by a huge margin.

Perhaps the Republicans should emphasize more to the voters that for every government benfit you must give up more of your freedom .

Agreed.

40 years later Nixon is portrayed as that "evil president" by members of the media who were not even alive at that time. His worst crime, he was a republican.

Today, hundreds dead from Fast and Furious and NBC Nightly News says nothing about it in 2011. Nothing, nada, zero reporting.

Our local NBC station said in an email they did report Fast and Furious 1 time in 2011. It was on their least watched newscast.

Deliberate omission of news has snowballed since the early 1970's.
