The Croats were the Hapsburg Empire's tripwire versus the Ottomans for several centuries. Gunther Rothenburg wrote two very good volumes about the Croat military frontier. I fear such a thing may be coming again. However, today west and many central Europeans are so denaturalized and culturally emasculated that it is possible the sons of the pedophile prophet will win just by constant infiltration and street gang type intimidation tactics.
Most of Hungary was under Ottoman rule for more than 150 years. Southern France was under Saracen rule for some decades in the 8th century (the battle of Tours in 732 was a turning point but it was some time before the Muslims were pushed out of southern France).
The Croatian military border was mixed. The Habsburgs recruited Orthodox Christians fleeing from Serbia and Kosovo to be soldiers in the border areas, while allowing them to keep their religion (they tried to force everyone else to be Catholics). The Catholic and Orthodox peasants probably thought of themselves primarily in terms of their religious identity--Latin Christians and Greek Christians. Much later the Catholics were taught to think of themselves as Croats and the Orthodox were taught to think of themselves as Serbs.
