Yes, we are headed for horrendous times. From a biblical worldview, it is all laid down in the Scriptures and is being fulfilled, just as God has said in many places in His Word, the Bible (both Old and New Testaments). God has a controversy with the nations. Jerusalem & Judah (the nation of Israel) is at the center of the controversy. God is going to destroy the nations that come against Jerusalem and He is going to defend and save a remnant of Israel in that day. It is prophesied in Zechariah 12-14, for one place.
Between today and that day God is still redeeming individuals (of all nations and of Israel) and reconciling them to Himself through the shed blood and sacrifice of His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah of His people Israel. It is a matter of faith in order to escape the wrath that is to come, as God’s wrath is sure to come in the end.
It is by grace we have been saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works that no one should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
True believers have hope in the resurrection because of being in Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:20-24
In summation, no matter what happens, nuclear war and wars, imprisonment, beheadings, famines, etc., the one who trusts in Jesus Christ, who is God’s only revealed Savior and Redeemer for mankind, will have the hope and peace that is graciously given to us through faith.
It is my firm belief that once again American soldiers are going to die liberating Europe.
It will be extraordinarily bloody because everyone wanted to believe the muslim could assimilate. Now, they are firmly entrenched in the old countries to the tune of TENS of millions.
We Americans think we are insulated, but it is only a matter of time.
Remember when Romania got invaded by Turks—A fellow named Vlad took them to task and “spiked” there plans.
“I bet there are a lot of FReepers who supported that clusterfark.”
It was a rare time when Freepers and Putin agreed and the irony not lost among us.
He called it Macedonia.
“A fellow named Vlad took them to task and spiked there plans.”
Yeh, I heard it was a pain in the butt.
(Maybe we should get together and deliver puns and mixed metaphors on Saturday Night Live.)
The Croatian military border was mixed. The Habsburgs recruited Orthodox Christians fleeing from Serbia and Kosovo to be soldiers in the border areas, while allowing them to keep their religion (they tried to force everyone else to be Catholics). The Catholic and Orthodox peasants probably thought of themselves primarily in terms of their religious identity--Latin Christians and Greek Christians. Much later the Catholics were taught to think of themselves as Croats and the Orthodox were taught to think of themselves as Serbs.
Macedonia stayed under Turkish rule longer than Greece, until 1912, when the Turks were driven out and the region was divided between Greece (50%), Serbia (40%) and Bulgaria (10%). Because Greece became free longer ago (c. 1830) it may be easier to forget that it was also under Muslim rule for a long time.
Amen.
