>>which have no carbon dioxide emissions<<

Right, because they’re powered by unicorn farts, which contain no greenhouse gasses.

The high expectations for electric cars, which have no carbon dioxide emissions

...which have the same carbon dioxide emissions as the power plant used to generate the electricity...

I looked up the fuel price in Germany, “only” about $5.50 usd/gal with diesel even less.

At those prices, electric doesn’t make sense, especially with the widespread availability of very economical diesels, something the EPA has kept away from us in the US.

They were pushing electric cars in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago. Huge dsplay outside nesr the marina. Hardly any interest, none on the streets driven.

We rented a “Leon” for a drive to SW France. The cost of gas was a negligable portion of that excursion.

If there were affordable, reliable and efficient alternatives to oil WE’D BE USING THEM.

But there aren’t, and wishing doesn’t make it so.

Hilarious comments at the end of the article at the site. At least the ones at the end have a brain. They are probably FReepers. Ha, ha!

So why does the so called auto industry need government subsidies? Electric cars should be cheaper to produce but somehow cost more! Greedy bastards!

Until German car makers lobby will keep giving electric cars the last priority and will keep launching super powerful diesel cars, forget in Germany they can talk about electric cars. I was on vacation in italy and i was amazed how many more hybrid cars there are than in Germany..

Electric cars = low or no tax = loss of tax revenue = bad news for the government.

Internal combustion engine = fuel tax, engine size tax and emission tax = government dream.

Green technology = lets make it expensive as possible for the buyer = licence to print money = a very, very greedy green industry that is only in it for the money = no real morals as far as the environment is concerned = pulled the wool over everyone eyes and now laying in the sun by the pool on the profits.

Now that Germany is shutting down it’s nuclear power plants just where is all that electricity to recharge the batteries in all those electric cars going to come from?

Solar and wind can not support the current electrical needs of the public, now you are going to siphon off much needed electricity to recharge car batteries. Can you say rolling brown outs and black outs and extremely high electric bills?

My neighbors across the street have the Nissan Leaf. What an energy hog that thing is, their electric bill has gone way up and they can go that far without having to plug in again.

No thanks, I keep using my energy efficient gasoline car.

The Germans shouldn’t have caved into common sense so soon. Government Motors will be having a fire sale (pun intended) of Volts to clear up the backlog very soon. Since the union contract calls for the volt production workers to be paid regardless if they are selling cars, they will need to find a place to unload them on the QT. Since Germany and Europe are far from the US they would seem to be ideal. Chevy Volts for 1,000 Euros.
